Dental Treatment

Im about to undergo a course to whiten my teeth. My dentist has quoted me almost 300 quid. Yikes.
Does anyone have experience of this process? Am I being taken for too much cash? Can it be done safely at home?

I would have thought the same procedure could be used to whiten them with the addition of some agent. To do this at home you would probably have to use an electronic toothbrush together with the whitening agent.
dont have it done it is a rip off, my friend is a dentist nurse and the stuff they use cost around 20 to buy then they charge you for using the hygenic stuff, i buy mine of ebay 22% for about a 10 and it is good but i dont have really bad teeth anyway so couldnt tell you if it works on stuff stains
The treatment involves moulded gum shields. These are placed in the mouth along with a whitening agent (containing hydrogen peroxide). The gum shields are left in the mouth over night, for a week to a fortnight. When removed the staining has gone, alledgedly.
It just seems a little excessive in cost to me, considering it doesnt gaurantee results. The hydrogen peroxide is a worry too.
