We're usually lumbered with a sad name, but I haven't seen him on here tonight yet...
When I was posted to Warminster the medical officer was called Capt Death, but he always claimed his proper title was Dr Dee- ath
LOL I know who you mean naz_nomad, I hope he's been banned 4ever
I went to school with a guy called Humphrey Dumpton, god only knows what his parents were thinking when they named him.
The only other guy with a weird name I knew was at Uni and he was a guy called Stanley Manley ~ not really that wierd I suppose.
Just to add ~ hasn't there been some sort of legislation in the USA to stop this occuring? Some idiots called their kid zipadee doo dah and their surname was day, and the registrar reported it and a judge blocked it.

There was a guy on R5 last week who called his son Queens Park Rangers. A born loser if ever I saw one.
i went to school with a boy called Thomas Thomas!!!!
bet he could find his way about alright.
was he a member of a club by any chance?
A riding instructor friend used to give private riding lessons to two children, a girl and a boy, who were called Cayenne and Stone respectively. Their surname was Pepper.
God....This is bad....My Grandad'd name is Chestnut. My other Grandad is Bartholemew.

There was also a man who drank in our pub called Brian O'Brien.
My friend is seeing a guy named Wayne King. On my life.
oi samuel, that's my name! (my parents obviously got it registered by a registrar who didn't care...)

What about that girls name "Fds" which I read about in the paper?!

I can understand people wanting their children to have slightly unique names, but some are just ridiculous!
Here's a few I've come across:
Audie Carr (a kid my dad used to teach)
Gordon Bennett (my ex boyfriend's father)
A Chelsea fan living near me has called his son Stamford-Bridge. (He also called his daughter Chelsea).
Kayleigh Dance (someone a relative used to know).
William Myc0ck ( a friend of the above mentioned ex)
Geoffrey Jeffrey (a headteacher at a school in the next county)
Richard Aird (another headteacher. Yes, he actually chooses to shorten his name that way, and yes, someone has pointed it out to him.)
In the late 1980s, I worked at a music college with Sarah Milburn, a grants writer. She was married to Tom Moore. They were both Arthurian nuts. When she had her second child, a boy, they chose his first name and let their 8-year-old daughter Emma pick the middle name. Emma was a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This combo meant trouble from the get-go. Somewhere in central New Jersey walks a young man with the name Merlin Raphael Milburn Moore. **sigh**
Can't yet think of any weird names but we have someone on one of mailing lists at work called Peter Brain. Not that funny until you write out the envelope to Mr P. Brain...

Blimey could have been worse carrust, they could have called him Lee Harvey Oswald!!!
All of our kids have 3 names, one dead ordinary one (Richard, Joe etc), one slightly unusual one (Kestor, Ari etc) and one fairly unusual one (Rivka, Lucius etc).
This has worked well as some choose to be known by their bog standard names and some by their unusual ones, so the idea of giving them a choice depending on how their characters mature has worked, so we can spot the future accountants from the flamboyant artists at a very early age :)
I think Bob Geldhof's kids have to pretty much take the biscuit for dodgy names though, Fifi-Trixibelle, that's a hell of name to live up to when your 95, or Frank Zappa's (Moon unit) what was he on when he thought of that?

And what about the loony people who name their child after an entire football team!!!!!

Imagine filling out forms?
