I,ve got a problem with someone I have to work with. Today i thought i was doing her a favour , but she didn't see it that way and totally over reacted and called me some offensive names. Its not the first time she' s had a go at me, though most of the time she's fine. And i know what she will say tomorrow, that she didn't mean it, but what about all the other times she didnt mean it? And I'm the only person she works with that she speaks to like this, she must have a problem with me. Personnaly, I think she needs to grow up (she's thirty)! What should I do about her with out making a big deal of the situation, If I try to ignore her she will say( like she has in the past) that it's me that's got the problem, when all I want is to go to work, and get on with my job!!

Why not suggest you go for lunch together or out for a coffee and have a chat when you speak to her tomorrow.

You could listen to each other's viewpoints and try and be open to accepting any blame on you and hpefully she will do the same to see if you can make things better between you.
drussila,

just tell her you resent being spoken to like you are a piece of muck, and if that is the only way she can talk to you, tell her not to bother, but stay calm, don't get annoyed just look her in the eye and tell her, there is no excuse for this, Ray
what exactly did you do that was supposed to be a favour?

there may be a reason why she keeps doing this to you that you are not getting, which is why you keep doing it and then upsetting her again

i know she apologises later on, but lots of people do that to keep the peace, whether they really feel it or not

not saying you have done anything, just saying that perhaps theres more to it that just her having a problem with you in general.

It was something really trivial, which didn't warrant the responce I got, like all the other times, all i did was write her name on a time sheet, that we have to fill in when we have been working in another department! I ts to keep a track of what hours we work and were, because in our company each department has its own budget, like i said i thougt i'd save her having to fill it in!
Well, apart from following the suggestion from Jenna, I would not do her any more favours and just maintain a friendly atmosphere!
What's your boss's take on this - or has it not been noticed?
aah.

you see, given that you don't get on with her and you are not especially close, this could be construed as you don't trust her to write the correct amount...

time sheet are notorious for workers 'trying it on'.

i would think you are trying to 'prevent' me lying - which, if i had no intention of doing, would pish me off

there is your reason...
if you are doing other things like this, stop - let her do it
