Outspoken

I dropped my youngest son off at school this morning, and whilst waiting at the traffic lights, a car pulled up next to me, i looked at the driver {male} who i noticed had no seat belt on, even more alarming, he had a little boy in the back of the car {approx 3 years of age} who wasen't strapped in also, not even a child car seat, so i got him to wind his window down, and laid down the law to him regarding seatbelts responsibility etc, he replied, what are you a ''Copper''. i said no, your worst F in nightmare if you answer me back again like that, at this point he drove off, i did'nt have a chance to get the number plate.
Are you outspoken like me, or do you think i should of minded my own business, i did'nt give a XXXX about him, but a child in the back not strapped in peeved me big time.
Your comments would be appreciated

What i feel i've learned here, is the differents in opinions, ie in my situation what would you of done.
For the record, can i make it very clear that i'm not a deranged pyscopath who goes looking for law breaking drivers and threating them verbally then possibly wants to stab them, as pointed out, i'm outspoken, admitterly at times i dive in before thinking, but i believe that we've all done this at some stage in our lifes, the post have however highlighted that some people will assist and some will turn a blind eye, its a crying shame we live in a society like this nowadays.
All the best

4gotmenut, the two incidents are entirely different and cannot be compared like for like. In your example aggressive action has been instigated by the aggressor against a potentially defenceless victim (some of these old dears can do a lot of damage with their walking sticks). This can be handled by tackling the offender to the ground and getting the bag back, followed by a kick in the knackers for making me run after him/ up the bum for a her. In fact, I might give them a couple of kicks whilst they were on the ground.
The occasion where this question refers to is undermined by the fact that the good citizen has demeaned themselves to a thuggish over reaction. But initially was correct in stating the facts to the irresponsible driver. Now I have spent far too much time and effort on this thread, so Im off.

Yes...I have been interested to read views on the matter...and yes..I will say, I have done things without thinking about it...but if I was to help someone..I wouldn't stand there for 5 minutes and think about it - I would just do it....thats my nature...but it isn't worth getting het up about to be honest, we all have our views...but people might surprise themselves if they faced a situation in the future...
what would have happened if you had given the driver so much of a fright that they drove badly, crashed and killed the toddler that was in the car ????
if you think you are someones worst Fin nightmare, you are WAY out of line !!!!!!
being OUTSPOKEN and what you did are so far from each other its silly !
you are nothing but a self opinionated bully.
i agree that the law is there for the safety of all car users, but what you did created more of a situation than the other driver did....
:-(

whilst i applaud you in your quest to ensure the safety of the child - i must agree with some of the others - you went about it in the wrong way.
you should have just told him the score and left it at that - you cannot force him do anything, and laying on the "rambo/tough guy" speak, just because he "answered you back" and asked you, what i think is a very reasonable question and what most of us would have wondered in the same situation, whether or not you are a "copper".
who do you think you are that a grown man, when confronted in the street by a stranger ranting at him, would not answer you back!?
and i agree - why would anyone not think you may stab them? how you have misread bednobs comment on this as a personal attack is ridiculous!
you are a complete stranger! you may know you have no intention of stabbing anyone, but no-one else does!
or do you think that you don't "look" like a stabber so no-one should be at all wary of you?
i understand your anger and your wish to help a child, and i commend you for being brave enough to tackle the situation - but yes, you went over the top, and to be honest if someone carried on like that to me - for whatever reason, i'd have said a lot worse than he did!
incidentally, would you have said the same thing before the laws came in?
i notice a lot of people can only see the bad in things if there is a law about it.
hardly anyone ever complained about mobiles in cars - until the law came in - and then it was self righteous indignance all the way, and same with many other things.

joko,
without me waffling to much, i did politely tell him, his agressive tone towards me triggered me to have a go at him, yes two wrongs don't make a right, just one question tho, lets hope the child dosen't distract the driver in future which causes him to crash and kill another child crossing the road.
I'm not a law upon myself, but i will never stand back and see an old lady mugged or a driver on a mobile whilst driving, i will say my piece, and if someone takes offence, well lets see if they see the bigger picture
Thanks for your posting

I have to agree with you on this one. I am regularly raging at the prats around here who like to flout the law. I come across them everyday taking my sons to school. It's mainly seeing the lazy people who live by me taking their kids to school in their cars when it is only down the road, Kids not strapped in jumping all over car and also no car seat in sight, I don't send my kids there as it is too rough and rather walk across town to the better school.
Stupid drivers who think that the red light is only there for prostitutes or decoration on the pedestrian crossing I have lost count a t the amount of rages Ive had at drivers not stopping, also the zebra crossing t(one of those stupid orange flashing light ones) they zoom through that without stopping, fools on mobiles, thick knob heads on mobiles I could go on and on.... Well done you shame more are not like it then the roads would be safer.
