When the killers of James Bulger were released they were given a new identity and if I'm right one of them has a child now. I'm not sure whether the mother knows his past. But if you had a child with a man then he admitted to killing a young child when he was young himself what would you do?

crete, she's behind you!!!! (sorry just continuing the panto theme lol)
Well I'm often accused of talking like an arse, so can I be the back end of the horse?
i hate to be predictable here but we are giving our views on what we read in the papers at the time and watched on t v , what do you think the response would be from the childs parents or family members? this issue will never leave them,
Question Author
No I think we are all just given our opinion to my question, and I'm getting some great views, all are welcome :-) and nox no way you give some brilliant answers.
Now you are talking about revenge which is an entirely different thing. There is an element of judicial revenge in sentencing, but after that area is complete (ie release) then everything has to swing to rehabilitation, which appears to be what's happening in this case. I thought you were a Christian Crete, does it not go against your teachings not to forgive? I'm not having a go, it's something I'm genuinely interested in reconciling, as it's the biggest stumbling block in my own neck of the woods.
nox yes it is my belief to forgive, where i have a major issue though is child abuse of any kind , sorry.
Like all, i was absolutely horrified when this happened, like all again, i kept saying to myself, how could two 10 year olds be capable of commiting a brutal killing like this, am i the forgiven type, well in short ''NO'' Should the two boys in Question be forgiven, well the answer would be, that the courts believed that they were suitably punished at the time, and are entitled to a 2nd chance, onlt time will tell if they were right, i think its so difficult, especially when there are children involved, it makes us all sit up and take note.
In regards to the mother knowing his past, i'm not sure, if she did'nt and he told her, i think no matter how much shes loves him, she would leave solely through his past, if i had a child with a women who had killed a child in her past, i would be gone, but then i believe that ALL CARDS should be put on the table before you make commitments.
Honesty & trust me everything to me, break them and you break the relationship

Ps, very good, but difficult question to answer 4get ***
Well to start with i don't think that should have been let out at all in the first place let alone given new identies.. however they have, i could not be around someone if i knew that they had done that to a child, and if i had a child with them i think that i would not want them to have anything to do with that child. I do think that some people can change with time, but for two 10 year olds to be able to do such a wicked thing & premeditate it then in my mind there must be something wrong with them & i could not forgive them for that ever.

missjef you've took the words right out of my mouth. exactly what I think now.
I agree with Laurence about the honesty aspect, trouble is I think it would almost too terrifying for him to own up to a potential girlfriend because firstly there are the security issues surrounding him and secndly most right minded girls would be gone like long dogs. If he has managed to find a girl willing to get past her initial horror then I think either she's a weird person or alternatively she may very well be a truly remarkable person whose worth their weight in gold and who can only do him and his rehabilitation good, in which case he's been very fortunate.
4getmenot.......... yes your right about my answer, why shouldnt they live with a life of regret................... i deleted so much of my origanal answer because my views became very acidic towards them and i started dissagreing with myself??

can i just throw another "IF" into the pan here???

when murederers go down they all of a sudden create a star status........perhaps the person who has given him a child is a groupie of his???

it makes all types to make a world, even sicko's like this have kids!!!
Nox,
you made a very valid point ie Terrifying/security issues.

In regards to the girlfriend, if hes convincing enough with the little boy lost look {no offence meant in regards to this posting} she probably is absolutely none the wiser about his past, the bit that interest me, is how a 10 year old upto now and for the rest of his life can keep such a secret, for example, tho's of us who have had a few beers in our life time suddenly become either bravado or you tell a few home truths, its human nature to tell someone something.
I believe eventually one of these boys will drop his guard then watch the lynch mob mentality come in.
i'm sticking my neck out here, but i believe there is no way a 10 year old can be a cold and calculated killer, what they done admitterly words can't describe, but i have a 10 year old boy {looking at him now} whos extremely bright etc, and i look at him and think could he be capable of doing something like this, well absolutely ''NO'' in my eyes, i just can't believe that a 10 year old {mentally} can commit a murder

Sad but very true rugely like these people that fall write to these killers in prison and fall in love with them.

I know some girls like a bad boy but thats taking it a bit too far
I am sorry to say that i live very near where this happened and know various people connected with this.

they did not just kill him, and this was not just a prank that went wrong.

much of what they actually did to him was hidden from the public because it was too horrific.

i think it should have come out because people keep saying they didn't mean it or it was an accident.

they used his body like it was rag doll, and damaged it beyond belief, in all sorts of twisted ways, they then stuffed him full of gravel and twigs...i won't go on...but suffice to say these boys were and may still be sick and evil.

Question Author
Good point joko, but I was merely using them as an example for my question, what would you do?
Although I think that as they were children themselves when they did it they are more than likely the best candidates for reform, they still have to have some form of evil ( i sound like a witch hunter dont i?) buried inside of them and I dont think that could ever go away. For a child to do it there has to be something bad inside of them. If they admitted this to me, I would pretend everything was ok, then runaway, change my name and make myself totally untraceable. If my children were young enough I would try and find some way of making them believe there father was unfindable/dead etc and make sure that they were never in their lives.
I do believe that many criminals can be reformed and overall change for the better.
But to put myself in a situation where I was living with someone with a criminal history I am not sure how easily I could see past or forgive something as terrible as murder... it all comes down to trust. Although I would like to empathise with him there would always be some suspicion or uneasiness in the back of my mind so I am not sure if I'd feel safe anymore being around someone like that.
from my memory of the trial, or from what was press released, as Joko said, none of it was accepted as 'accidental' or a prank which went wrong as they were indeed tried to murder, and if the former were the case, surely it would have been manslaughter. Apparently, they premeditated the whole thing from when they bunked school that day.

That being said, I would have serious doubts as to their stability and their rehabilition is not a perfect science, rather more a 'proof in the pudding' thing. Whereupon, it is ffine, until the proof is in somebody elses pudding and another tragedy occurs.

I wonder if (and I know I shall get slated here) it wouldn't have been kinder and in fact safer for them both to have had a vasectomy at the time of their conviction. This would perhaps improve their chances at rehabilitation as if they have not reformed at all, then taking someones elses child might not necessarily be as easy for them, and if they are totally rehabilitated then having a child could torment them to such a degree it could affect their ability to parent and make them either over protective, or just mad with grief.

Also a little part of me wonders just how much they remember of that day. I think of my self as a ten year old or even as ten years younger and I have memories, some significant some I would describe as vivid, but I think you don't remember all details. You remember perhaps if something awful has happened to you, but not necessarily if you wer the one doing the awful things. If they don't remember the day or the details have become hazy and distant, maybe they have also become sanitized to them and this imo would make the infinitely more dangerous.

I'm sorry to be so negative, it is not normally like me.
