beauty spots

I would like to know what beauty spots are caused by, and why new ones appear; I thought they appeared only before birth. ps: I am not talking about moles!

my boyfriend asked me the very same question so i am trying to find him an answer on the net. He is covered in beauty spots and he has noticed more and more appearing the past few weeks. I noticed them too. I didnt know they could just randomly appear
