Hi all. The problem i have is that im slightly concerned about the fact that every single morning when i wake up i cough and spit blood from my throat down the toilet. I dont do it violently its not as if im choking but i do tend to spit a fair ammount of blood from my mouth which im a bit worried about. I do smoke on average ten cigarettes a day although i wouldn't of thought it would cause those kind of affects every morning. Any ideas would be appreciated

is it fresh blood or altered blood ie old and dark red ?
If you are coughing up blood every day, you need to get to the doctors and get it checked out.
There are a few possible causes for this ranging from the simple (gum disease) to the deadly (cancer) Ronald. Apologies for the bluntness but the point I'm trying to make as harshly as I possibly can is get yourself to the GPs.

It probably is nothing to worry about. But get yourself down to your GP and get it dealt with.

It seems to be fresh bood and sometimes think which is pretty disgusting
You really need to see your GP ASAP. Coughing up blood on a regular basis is certainly not normal, and definitely needs checking out sooner rather than later.
the advice given re seeing your g p is correct, but its interesting to note it only occurs first thing in the morning
Hiya Ronaldinho, I just did a Google, there's several reason's for coughing up blood and some not serious but best you see your GP as the other's say.
You can also try NHS Direct on 0845 4647 or if you have an NHS walk in centre, I'd go there if you can't get to your GP but that would really be your best bet!

Good luck!
Ronaldinho. if someone esle asked that question what would you have said? see a doc as its the weekend then go to your local A and E NOW
could it be a nose bleed at night, collecting in your throat?
