the thought of cycling to work this morning, just chills me to the bone, but its easier than de-icing the car, and sitting in traffic, perhaps i should buy a vest or thermal under garments, but are these attractive on a man,
what do you think, or wear........?

Yesterday was so cold I ended up with a headache from the chill (being follically challenged doesnt help) I am known to wear a thermal balaclava of thin enough material it sits under the cycle helmet just fine. I usually turn in to work admist the jeers of fellow employees but the way I see it is I'd rather look a complete tool than have a very uncomfortable cycle to work.
Do you have a proper cycling jacket? I paid about 50quid from Halfords for a decent light material jacket, with a kind of string vest inner lining. I've cycled to work in -5 temparatures and never been cold, they are also good for the summer. Worth their weight in gold. I've also never worn more than a t-shirt underneath it in any weather.
The head and hands are usually the parts that lost most the heat, buy some thinsulate gloves from Millets (about a tenner) and thermal cycling balaclava from Halfords and you wont feel the cold.

thanks booldawg, i use a berghaus jacket that is not lined, which is fine going to work, but on the scenic route home is too hot, as i like too try and beat me time, so cycle like mad, ialways wear cycling shorts, but me legs never get cold, and a thinsulate hat, i never liked cycling helmets, especially in this weather as they seem to channel the cold air onto me shaved head, gloves are usually the problem, i like the fingerless ones, but the ends of them do get a bit numb, if ever i get cold its because i'm not cycling hard enough
