Throwing water at a stranger that comes to your house

Say someone comes knocks on my front door and I want them to leave, but they wont. So I throw cold water at them... What is the worst that could happen to me (according to the law)?

I could understand if it was a brick, then common sense tells me I would be punished, fair enough.

So what kind of law punishment would/could I receive if I threw water at a stranger who wouldn't go away?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I don't really think much could happen to you
i would do it if someone was annoying me at my own front door, i really would

but i do have to say that the thought of it makes me laugh
I don't think they could complain. It's not really assault, it's not like you're chasing them off the property with a gun like some do. You can warn them and THEN do it. Try and have a witness though! Would it not be easier to just shut your front door and walk away?

Yea, but that would be no fun :)

It depends on just how you asked them to leave, if you told them to leave your property and they blatantly refused, then you may use reasonable force, I would think that a good soaking after being warned is reasonable, but you must make your intentions clear, its no good chucking water over the Jehovah witness just because they are a bit stubborn about leaving, you would be prosecuted for assault!!
Who is at your door? I thought the only thing that could be got rid of with water was that witch in the Wizard of Oz!
and was it triffids with salt water??

I hope that video is real!!!!!
V funny.

:o)
Just shut the door on them and stick a notice on it telling them not to knock again.
My first thought on reading this question that the person who would not go away was probably a JW but I see that Ratter and Tha-Flash beat me to it.

I was gonna mention it in the question but just waited to see if it was said :)
I wish I'd thought of that on Christmas Day Tha -Flash:-))

rofl u gotta be kidding, they actually came round on christmas day?

btw - I hope u lot had a good xmas and have a great new year.

if they was on your land, and you was watering the garden and they "accidently" cough! cough! got wet, i'm not sure, they could do anything.......
I kid you not Tha-Flash! I posted about on B+S yesterday. Stubborn sods as well they were!
To fet rid of an unwanted JWs do what my dad does. Invite them in for as long as they want to stay - listen intently then tell them that the reason they were welcomed in was so that they wouldn't pester anyone else!!!! He has done this in every house he has lived in and they never come back again!!!!!
Someone correct me of I'm wrong, but I think they would be able to sue you for assault. It would, I think, be a civil rather a criminal matter. It's like when a burgler injures himself on your property - you're protecting what's yours but you're still the one who gets copped. Not fair, I know, but that's the state of British justice, I'm afraid.

What you could do is to ask them to leave, then tell them you will call the police if they don't. If they remain there, then go ahead and call the police on 999 and tell them there's someone at your front door harassing you. Has to be 999, though, or they won't come out for another three days, and only then if they need to get shopping in on the way.
When I open the door and find the JW there - I just say "not interested" and slam the door. After you do that a few times, the word gets around and they eventually stop coming.
