The 'meaning of life' is a pointless exercise. It has no meaning. We're born, we live, we die. We may as well have as much fun as possible between the first and the last, rather than worrying about what it all means. And, if by some bizarre chance I'm wrong, and there IS some purpose to it all, then we'll find out afterwards, and we STILL won't have bothered wasting our time wondering about it. My philosophy, in a nutshell :) Sorry, God/Buddha/Allah/Yahweh/Shiva/Great Architect/Celestial Cow of the Sky/Cthulhu/Deity of choice (delete as applicable). I didnt mean it really ;)
42 is not the meaning of life. 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything... which is not quite the same thing. The true meaning of life is hope, perseverance, standing up for what is right, eating chocolate cake and counting up to 537. Oh, and reading answerbank.

not sure about the meaning of life, but I think a pretty good comment was made by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett in Good Omens. they said something to the effect that the reason we are here is to be ourselves as hard as we can.... I would add and to take the consequences. Boy George in his sunday column in the Express (other sunday papers are available) said something similar that a friend told him about Buddhism "every act is Buddhist but you have to bear the consequences"
Num 14:21 But as I live and my name is living, so the glory of the Lord shall fill all the earth.
Gods glory is his character, God does have an excellent character, He also created us with the ability to self develope his characteristics in our selves, this is what he is would like to achieve with this creation, that all people would base their self improvment on his characteristics, such as loving kindness, mercy, true justice and judgement, we can learn more about his characteristics through reading about him in his word, for this he offers us eternal life:) hope this helps.
