I think having pets and the pets you have can say a lot about people.
What pets do you have (have you had), what are their names and nicknames and what is their affect on your life?
Any funny/silly stories also welcome :)

I also had a lurcher called Lass about 10 years ago, on Christmas day (dinner time) I was walking her down a country lane near my home when she jumped over a gate in a field as she would often do, she would normally come back with a rabbit for the pot but this time she came back with a whole cooked Turkey, I took her straight home and waited for someone to come knocking on my door looking rather irate, luckily they never did!!

My parents had a cat called Toby (when I was a young child) - he was an anti-social git but I suffered badly when he died (it was my 1st expereince of death) and I missed him terribly.
Then got a cat called Domino - he was my best friend and we had a very special relationship. He lived a long and fantastic life but had to be put to sleep after we'd nursed him for about a year. I didn't live at home when he died so I'd got used to not having him around but I still missed him like crazy.
Had a rabbit and guinea pig (Spike was my brother's really) called Strawberry and Spike when I was a kid. I used to take Strawberry (the rabbit) for walks on a lead and she used to scare the local dogs - a fearless dwarf rabbit!!
When my gf and I bought our house, we had two gerbils and we also got 2 budgies (Jack and Daniel) and rescued 2 cats from the RSPCA (Whisky - mum and Chloe - her daughter). Also had another one turn up on our doorstep that we took in and called Malines.
Chloe met an untimely death at an early age because of a car :o( which upset us dreadfully and Malines missed her.
We now only have Malines, Whisky, Jack and Daniel.
Whisky is very much my gfs cat and lives to eat and sleep.
Malines is very much mine and we have a very special bond. She is very jealous of my gf and my gf is jealous of Malines. lol. I often dream about taking her on holiday with me as she will follow me anywhere and I'd love to see if she would if I took her away. lol. She's spent all day on the bed with me today pawing at me and demanding attention and stroking. And is now laid on her back in the middle of the living room floor with her head upside down looking at me jealously cos I'm on the laptop.
Sorry for the long post

aww thats sweet flipflop. My cat Pebbles was rescued (used to live across the road but they got a dog and Pebbles was forced out, not even a year old). He is a vicious little sod to anyone but me as he was badly treated as a kitten. I reckon he doesnt attack me coz I feed him! Why do people do such horrible things to animals??
Awwww, most of our cats and dog were rescued. It's sad to see how despite the good life we have given them they still have their neuroses from whatever happened to them.
My Dennis was a sweetheart, a few times he managed to get out of his ball but instead of legging it like many hamsters would have done, he'd potter over and sit by me as if to say look what i did mummy. My mate's hamster used to sleep on her pillow next to her every night.

Pet 1 a budgie bought by my grandad for me called Pepi, brought it home in a canvas holdall! Not recommended for budgie carrying. Pepi lived for 12 years bless him/her (never did find out crapped a lot on the curtains and peoples heads). My mum was terrified of it which was amusing for 12 years.
Numerous goldfish usually from fairs - ended up in the great toilet bowl in the sky.
Scotty dog called Lady. Completely mental - we had her while we still had the budgie. Got that budgie was traumatised! The dog kept running away and people used to bring her home. We had to give her to a farm before my mum had a nervous breakdown. Heartbreak!!!
2 tortoises - again kept 'running' away and the neighbours kept bringing back. My dad painted a 40 on their shells (number of our house) - don't know if that was allowed!!
Next a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Tammy. Again completely mental dog but did calm down with age. She was beautiful but hated going for a walk and would hide if the lead came out. Only thing about her was that I was about 17/18 at the time and she would always grass on me when I got in late and look at me with a really snotty face 'ha ha got you in trouble!!'
Tropical fish tank while we still had Tammy. Too many to remember - had to get a separate birthing area as the guppies kept popping out baby guppies and the other fish would eat them.
Two hamsters Yogi and Aubrey. Yogi died of a tumour, Aubrey (thought was a boy had 7 babies I had to find homes for) Husband freaked out. One of the hamsters got behind the bath and while he was out a mate of my husbands had to dismantle the bath panel for a pet rescue. Husband came home me and his mate were ****** but the hamster was safe.
Now rescue cat called Binnie (found in a dustbin). She's a top cat and have had her for about 9 years. Embarrasing claim to fame is that she came home

Meg, my Lab x she is now 14 and starting to show her age, she also is a rescue dog, had been starved when we got her, she is a big big part of our lives and family and we are starting to face the fact that we mayn ot have her foir many more years, my previuos dog was a lurcher called Nina who we had for almost 14 years till she died from cancer. She had a wonderful life here and so has Megan, she gets treated like royalty. She has her own toy box, abouta dozen fifferent toys which she scatters everywhere like a child. we love her dearly, cannot understand how anyone can possibly harm any animal
In the past, we have had rabbits. We ended up with about 13 at one time. Guinea pigs, hampsters. One got out and got into the cavity in the wall. came out eventually. An aviary of birds. Goldfish, tropical fish. Cats and now we have just a few tropical fish and two Shih-tzus. Life is slowing down.
I have to say as a warning to other hampster owners. We didn't know they hibernated and my daughter found her as we thought dead. We burried it in the garden. Later that day someone told us about them hibernating so we dug it up but we will never know if it had died or was just sleeping. That was sad.

I have had loads of little pets over the years, rabbits guinea pigs, hamsters and fish etc........ Our family has always had Boxer dogs and when i met my 1st husband at 19, i got my very own and called him Bruiser. He was such a character and gave us so many laughs over the years. My very best story is way too rude for answerbank so i shall keep that one to myself! :-) My brother has just bought his wife a 7 week old Boxer pup called Stanley, i have yet to meet him but judging by his pic, he is absolutely every bit as gorgeous as all the others!!!. Growing up i had Henry, and before him there was Bisco, Dusty and Sugar. My brothers previous Boxers were called Boris and Harvey (a white one) I wouldnt have another one now, very much hard work.
Now i just have 2 cats, Tiggy and Lilly, mum and daughter.
