The only routine we had as kids that I still carry on now as a Mum of 2 is that we aren't allowed to open pressies until after we have had Christmas dinner. So that's usually 3pm gone. Hubby & kids joke that I'm cruel but it makes Christmas last most of the day rather than it being over and done with by breakfast. I make sure they get games in their stockings to keep them amused till dinner.
I'm not that bad really, I do let them open at least one prezzie in the morning whilst dinner is cooking just to tease them :o)

My dad used to print a national newspaper (he is retired now!) he used to work Christmas Day night, on Christmas Day morning I would be allowed to open my presents from Santa only, and the rest of the presents we would open after Christmas Lunch (when my dad was awake) and we still do it to this day with my daughter.
