Derbyshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire... can anyone tell me what the difference is between them as they all sound the same to me.

They remind me of old english humble farm folk.... I think it sounds lovely.

Met a lovely chap from Bolton, so I was going to call him 'me duck' but isn't that Derbyshire? People say 'chick' or 'pet' here up north, where I'm from.

What can I say to him that's typical Bolton (he's a country lad).

Thanks! X

Hahahaha, I've been living in Newcastle for the last 10 years and my Geordie mates (who's accents aren't very strong) say I speak posh but with a very soft northern accent.... after a couple of jars, my accent seems to come out a little bit more though, especially if I'm annoyed!!! Or obviously compared to a southerner or cockney.

I guess its the same as folk from Newcsatle, Sunderland (Grrrrrrrrrrr, snarl) and Gateshead (Gatesheeeeeeed), unless you're from here, you can't tell the difference.

Huddersfield is very like Leeds though, isn't it?

Yeah very similar but there is only about 9 miles seperating us...
I don't know who you have been listening too but those three accents are entirely different
For hours of fun there's an on line translator at www.whoohoo.co.uk.
Chuck seems to be very popular up here Manchester way.

Get "love" a lot from the guys up here, always thought ut was quite cute them addressing their solicitor as love bless em.

Erm...maybe i should have rephrased that last sentence in case people thought i was offering more than legal services haha ;)
Ask your Bolton friend what he thinks of Wiganers. There's a friendly rivalry between them. I think he would call you 'love' and not pet.
I asked a cahp from Wigan if there was a B&Q in Wigan. He said "No, ther's a W, and I think a G. You must be thinking of Bolton." (Thanks to Dave Spikey, a good Bolton lad for that one).
