If you swallowed a raw clove of garlic, would your breath smell if there was no masticating. I realise the odour may manifest from the stomach, but if swallowed whole would it have time to smell?

Probably momentarily ~ if the clove had been peeled!
i'm not sure, but i know when at work when we all go for a meal, the next morning the mess, will smell of curry, or garlic, depends what we are, so i think it will probably enter the bloodstream, and make you smell that way,
ask the the geeks in the science bit......lol

Stinky skin???? Mmmmm sounds lovely.

The thing is I am not a big fan of garlic but realise the health benefits of such are excellent. Apart from cod liver oil, I don't like taking supplements so "odourless pills" are not really my thing.
Hello mr Wardy,
Garlic is gorgeous, and you won't notice the aroma, possibly if you are with someone who hasn't been eating it and you breath all over them??? lol....
Eat it for you and your health :-) and who cares if you niff?
btw, could've done with your input in Law in the civil bit about self defence.... it would've saved me having to trawl through prohibited weapons laws lol....
although i have an excellent sense of smell, i can never smell garlic on a person, probably because i consume lots of it,
no vampires in my house.....lol

well maybe some vampish women..............
The odour is released when the clove is crushed or the skin otherwise compromised.
Once the stomach acid gets to work, and the clove is digested, the bloodstream would carry the nutrients around the body and the smell would then permeate the skin. In other words, no, if swallowed whole it would not have time to give you "garlic breath"
Its not life-threatening so why dont you try it and see. By all accounts, eating raw garlic (I think 8 cloves a day is the recommendation) helps to increase the blood flow to your didgery doo-da. So even though the girls wont come near you, because of your stinky breath, at least youll have something to play with.
So I was right then, John? if so..yay.
