My Daughter
21 Answers
Following on from the earlier post about Aspergers/Autism, I thought i'd show you this, if you don't mind. It was taken in EuroDisney four years ago, for her eighteenth birthday. I was against the trip, but as you can see, with the help of the staff, she had the time of her life. She is still in pads outside, neither speaks, and only understands about a dozen on syllable words, but she has a full range of vocal chords, mentally, she's grown about a month for every year she's lived, so you could say she's a twentytwo year old Autistic toddler, but she's happy, and thats the main thing. To us, she's the most important thing in this world, as, I would add, are most children to their parents.

She's lovely Lonnie and i'm glad that she had a wonderful time. So she should be the most important thing in this world to you. Your love and devotion to your daughter shines through on all your posts and you can almost imagine you beaming. You sound like a very wonderful , loving parent and I admire you for that xxx
Lonnie, what a lovely photo! You are so lucky to have your sweet daughter and she really is a credit to you. I know how hard it can sometimes be to care for a child with special needs or a serious illness. I would give everything I have to have my son back and be able to look after him again. Sadly he died in my arms of brain cancer just three days before his 21st birthday. Your love for your daughter shines through so brightly in this posting and really warms my heart. You are one of life's true stars as is your daughter. Big hugs to you and may you have many, many more years of happiness together.
I'd like to thank you all, for your wonderful replies, i'll answer in turn, seems about the best way.
caz, EuroDisney couldn't be faulted, the staff were first class, and went out of their way to help us, and her, obviously, you pick and choose which attractions you take your children on, but as they are special needs, they go right to the front of the queue, as for accomodation, unfortunately, we went on a package with a well known company, and the hotel we stayed in was in Paris itself, and it wasn't upto scratch, but while we were there, we made inquiries about the Disney hotels, and all we got back, even fron othe carers/parents with children with special needs, was nothing but excellent reports, so if you can take your children there, i'd say that that is the way to go.
I know just how you feel, my arguement against it, was that we had taken her to Alton Towers about a year before, and it was totally unsuitable, and I was thinking that there wouldn't be much difference, but luckily, I have a very strong willed wife, who wouldn't listen to me, and you saw how happy she was, that smile hardly left her face the whole time we were there.
I wish you and your children all the best, you have it harder than us, i'm sure your children would love it. and my thoughts are with you as you decide,
gingersticks, thanks very much for your very warm reply.
babydust, again, thanks for your lovely reply, these kids, if I may call them that, are hard work, but they give their love in their own way don't they.
wonderwoman, thats a lovely reply, thanks,
ray, what can I say, you always ask after her, and send your love, and i'll always be grateful for the support you give, not just to me, but to others also, thats why your about the most respected person on this site.

Hiya Lonnie, There's nothing I can say as the other's here have said it all. Your daughter has an impish look about her. You and your wife are obviously devoted to your daughter. We all love all of our kid's but our "Special" ones are just that "Special". I bet she loves you both to bits! Daisy/battersby. btw, I forgot to put you on my " Who do you like list" sorry:-(
