Hello Dotty,

It's subjective. I worked in a bookies for years and some things were horrid. Like at christmas watching people blow the money they should have been using for presents. Or seeing people reduced to shrivelling wrecks because I wouldn't take their bet due to the race being off.

The worst thing about it was it was always the people who had the least to lose who seemed to have the biggest problem. (And I worked in Peckham and there aren't many rich folk there!) Sometimes you would be embarrassed for them.

Anyway, that ^^^^^ stuff aside gambling is much like drinking. No, it's not wrong. (Personally I don't see the appeal). As long as it's in moderation and doesn't control your life. When it becomes a problem then obviously it's wrong. But as with any addiction, you usually find that the problem is deep rooted and that the addiction is a sympton or a mask for something worse.

If it was that wrong, the lottery would need to be banned really.

no betting isnt wrong........no more than drinking n smoking.....

non is illegal

i bet most days btw.....and i enjoy it

although it gives me enjoyment, i dont understand the thrill of fruit machines, cards or roulette

but its not wrong.....
Hmmm, i am a gambler. i only gamble at the weekend though. I totally agree with mrrobbo15 (apart from the cards, roulette) gambling is no more wrong than smoking or drinking...
I have vast experience of gambling and living with a gambler. I have lost tens of thousands of pounds as I got sucked into it as he was very manipulative. It can turn nice people temporarily into something else.

Having said that it can be fun as long as you dont get carried away. There is nothing wrong with small fun bets - the problems start when you start placing 1k bets and over.
