Post the phone number and the name of the male you spoke to (if you know) and I will pretend to have the same problem.

It won't do any good, but I will probably not be as nice as you.
ring up and threaten to go to the press as the company is purposefully misleading the public (you) and that you will also be gettin in touch with the people who deal with consumer affairs.

basically threaten to take it to a hire level.
I would do the same - say if they dont refund the difference then you will cause so much bad press they wont have a business!

Seriously though, as I paid by credit card do I have a 'cooling off' period in which I can return goods. I've never had this happen before and I'm not sure.
go for it Wardy.
Hellion, this happens a lot i should think. I bought a gorgeous skirt in the sales 2 weeks ago only to find that a week later it was a third of the price I had paid. You take the risk of buying it before they run out, if they done run out they may drop the price again.
It doesnt excuse the way you were treated though. In future i suggest you ask them to write on your receipt if the promise that the price will not change again after youve purchased.
double check on that cooling off period. if you have got it then phone them back and explain that youll return it for full refund and then buy again at the lower price. They may then offer to refund you the difference and avoid the hassle.
hey wardy have you phoned them?
Did the male have quite a deep voice with a hint of either west country or Norfolk?
Question Author
No - he sounded early thirties and he wouldn't let me get a word in edgeways.
oh, well his mate was on the receiving end of a wardy curse. I shall try later as well.

Oh Wardy My Hero!
I would imagine, someone brighter than I could probably tell you better, that if it was for example, hypothetically of course, missing one of it's pieces, it could be considered "unfit for purpose" in which case I think you are entitled to a refund... if you get my drift as according to consumer law I think anything sold has to be designated as "fit for purpose" and clearly a broken bed isn't..... so you are entitled to a refund. Try it you never know.

I love you guy's!
Of course if you follow nox's theoretical advice then you do run the risk of them suggesting that they replace the parts.

As the bed is still packaged up as purchased then you shouldn't have any problems returning it. If I were you I would phone back (or get a friend to do it) and pretend to be a potential customer. Say that you seen a bed that you want to buy but you're not quite sure if the wood finish will match the room and ask them what their T&C's are in relation to returning it on that basis. i.e. make sure that you'll be keeping the bed in it's packaging should you need to return it.
hey i give you this! you have a great sales technique, you would have done better if the name was different - Hellion (Heli-beds) i must try that when i start my website, thanks for the idea
Question Author
That's a good point Champers.
What's really annoying is the bed is just what I need for the spare room and I was quite happy with it but it sticks in my craw that 5 days later it's a 150 cheaper AND I got abused when I rang up to query it.
You just know that John Lewis would have advised you to wait a few days or refunded you the difference as a matter of good customer service. Trouble was this bed is exclusive to Heli-Beds (yeah I know sleepyfairy!).
