I need a break...
8 Answers
Hi all! I need some advice - or maybe just confirmation that I'm not completely bonkers...lol
I haven't been feeling too good for the past 6 months or so, and am currently on medication for mild depression. It usually works fine, and I was feeling a lot better, but for about a week I have been very down, as if it was all coming back with a vengeance. Now, I really feel like I need a break, and I'm thinking of going to Donegal for the week end, staying in a nice hotel/pub that has a great gig on on saturday. The problem is, I can't really afford it (although it's only about 60 quid for two nights, I'm quite broke), and also I'm a bit nervous about going by myself. So, do you think I should go? Will I look like a saddo staying in a hotel and going to the pub by myself? Do I just adopt a "let's do it and the hell with money" attitude, or is it unreasonable? Advice welcome guys. Ta, Max.

On the other hand, it's a very good choice of location. Donegal is beautiful and full of lovely friendly people so I don't think you will appear a saddo at all and I'm sure you'd meet some lovely people.

No i don't think you should go. Whenyou come back you will be down because you have no money. Whydon't you just go for a nice long walk with a ipod/stereo etc and just get out of your surroundings for the day. You can always walk to a nice country pub and have a spot of lunch/drink (only a tenner) and then walk back.
i firmly believe that a good long walk with music clears your head of stress for a while.
You would spend over 100 by going away and if you dont have it then it is silly.
Do the walk and stop for lunch

Can you not just drive/get the train over for the gig on saturday to cut the cost down?

Thank you all for your replies. I'm still not sure, especially about the money...:-( All I know is I would really love to go away even for a couple of days, to clear my head, see something different! I haven't been anywhere in a year and a half, haven't left Belfast at all. Maybe if I just cut down on my other expenses for a while, I could afford it.....After all, I have an overdraft, but no credit card, no loan, no mortgage, I'm not THAT desperate, I guess! Mmmmmmmh...I'll let you know, anyway, and maybe I'll send you a virtual postcard!
