Keirah dear, where someone lives does not make them upper class, having a degree or two does not necessarily make one intelligent and whether a person should take advice from anyone is purely their perogative.
Some "social lesserlings" are that because they realise that money is a worthless and transient thing (it's rubbish, you can always make more), and that people are more important, so perhaps being a "lesserling" is sometimes actually preferable and more of an accomplishment than being a "supreme being".
