depends on the reason it was bad in the first place.
Between 2 days and 10 years, give or take a decade!! more information will help!!
the last 'bad back' I experienced took well over a month to completely heal and become pain-free. I remember being upset because after the first week I was no better and I really thought it would have started to ease up. Before that, a bad back would usually last around two weeks. Problem is, then when the back has healed it often leaves me with sciatica pains down my leg for a few weeks. I hope its not that bad for you. Good luck Carly.
I hurt my back when In the 80s and if I am not careful it flares up again now. I pulled a muscle in my back in the 90s spent 6 weeks in bed unable to get out without assistance and was off work for 4 months.
I used to work for a Chiropractors and would see people come in, hardly able to move, crying and screaming with pain and then a couple of days later they were up and about like nothing had happened. I'd say healing time definitely depends on what the damage is and whether you do anything about it. If you do have a bad back I'd reccomend a Chiro, but they cost the absolute earth and alot of the time tell you you need so many months or years of treatment to get better when really they're just trying to get cash out of you!

mines been on and off a good while now seems one part gets better then another area feels bad then that goes and so on . i am trying some reflexology this afternoon to see if i can get it all balanced out , hope it works as thats expensive also.
How did you hurt it in the first place?

I would advise a trip to the physiotherapist, maybe pricey but it works!! I paid 30.00 last time I went.

The best cure I can recommend for an ongoing back problem is regular visits to a Yoga teacher and have one on one, do not join a class as that could make things worse, you need a specialist injuries Yoga teacher who can work with you to prevent damage. I was very sceptical about all this Yoga stuff, but cured me after 6 sessions when all others had given up!!!
I did mine in whilst I was at sea over 40 years ago & it still 'goes out' if I am not careful. Don't want to fill you with woe but you may have to live with it. Find a good Osteopath. Mine usually puts it right but it costs about 30 a session. Well spent if it means you can walk without looking like you've sh1t your pants
