For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It is very true that production of vitamin D is a major benefit of sun exposure, but it is not a major benefit of tanning in a sunbed, because the composition of UVA and UVB rays is different. Tanning beds are approximately 95% UVA, and it is UVB that induces vitamin D production. Very interesting debate though.
