Limbs itching in the night
5 Answers
For over a year now I have been woken up once or twice a week with severe itching. Originally it was in my upper arms, but recently it's moved to both thighs, just above the knees. I find Lanacane cream controls it, but I'd like to know if it may be symptomatic of something else. Maybe it's to do with my age, but I have no other peri-menopausal symptoms. Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you got any pets or are you around animals or could it be something a partner wears that cold be irritating your skin in bed? Have you tried treating your bed for bedbugs etc...
Did it coincide with moving house or bedroom?
Is your skin very dry as this can cause some itching, do you have any kind of excema or skin condition? Does the skin change when it is itchy (rather than when you're scatched it?).
Can you make any connection to what you've done or eaten during the day and the itching? A diary may help.
What is it you do? Could you be around any kind of irritants?
if you're worried there is something causing it then best bet is to see your GP.
