I have just ordered my new glasses. I am giving varifocals a go and also have had transition lenses. I know they darken in the sunlight but do they act as sunglasses or will I still need to use sunglasses on bright days?

My friend has them, and they go really dark in bright sunlight, so she werars them as sunglasses. However, they also go dark in bright rooms, which can look a bit odd if you're somewhere like a nice restaurant!

OH! I didn't think of that and no one in the opticians pointed that out. Just thinking about it also, I got new glasses because of my daughter's wedding in June (Wanted something a bit more stylish). but now I hope it doesn't look like I am wearing sunglasses. She would be mortified. Only joking. But it would look odd.
Just in case your opticians don't mention this (mine didn't my mum told me!) they don't work straight away you need to leave them in sunlight for a while to "charge them up" so to speak. When I came out of the opticians and put them on they didn't change and I thought they'd given me the wrong lenses it wasn't until I asked my mum who also has them that she told me you need to leave them in sunlight!
