When somebody dies and they get cremated, do we really get their ashes back, or is it just a scoopful out of the pile that's left .. in other words, is it just a mix of all the people that were cremated that day .. this really bothers me .. ??

According to the book Don't Drop the Coffin by Barry Albin Dyer, there are strict 'rules' on this and they don't cremate bodies together. You get back only the ashes of your loved one.

He has written another book called Final Departures but I haven't read that one..

Barry Albin Dyer has been an undertaker all his life and his books are quite interesting if you want to know more about the funeral industry.
i can assure you that the ashes you recieve are the ashes of only 1 person.hope this puts your mind at rest.

I understand that Britain is the only country in the world that does NOT subject the body to naked flame. The cremation flame is under the body which combusts, then as it reduces the ashes are collected via a 'sieve'. Any remaining bones are ground down - so the ashes you receive are those, and only those, of the departed.
