whats the big deal with rehab? all the stars go into it out of it . they recover they go back. is it all its cracked up to be? is it just for rich folk ? i mean i dont know anyone who could actually afford to go into rehab. so is it a real option for people or just a another thing that rich folk and popstars do to make themselves feel better. or even to make them look better in the public eye?
'Normal' people go into rehab, usually a department in the hospital. I have know a couple of people go into drug rehab and one go in due to mental health problems. and from what I can tell compared to The priory and other rehab centres for the famous its no kettle of fish and you certainly wouldnt be able to go in and out like the celebritys do, basically you get sectioned until you are better or until they dose you so full of drugs you havent got a clue whether you're even alive anymore
no you said whats the big deal with rehab and that you wouldnt know anyone that could afford it, well you dont always have to pay and have no choice but to go there
I'd also take alot of the sensational "star goes into rehab" stories with a very large pinch of salt.
Apparently Caprice was reported to have checked into rehab by two separate newspapers. She appeared on This Morning today with confirmation that on the dates she was supposed to have checked into The Priory in London she was actually on a flight to Geneva from South Africa- she'd brought the tickets in as proof.
for some it does help, I think you can tell the ones that do it for publicity and have no intention of being helped Britney, Pete Doherty, but there are some that have been helped, kate moss, Matt from Busted and Robbie is trying
There's nothing they do in rehab that you can't do on your own with a very good friend or loved one for support. As 4get says sometimes you have no choice about going in and sometimes it's more like a health farm for addicts, depends on if it's free or if you're paying 3,000 per week.
to be honest as far as robbie is concerned i think his problem is the same one george michael had before coming out.
his sexuality.
i think robbie is in denial.
doesnt want to admit how he really feels .
and trys to suppress those feeling by going with any female he can and taking large amounts of drugs and alcohol.
oops
i went all psychoanalytical there.
There are many thousands of "normal" people in rehab centres all over the UK, most of them have their own programmes but are often based around the 12 step programme used by Alcoholics Annonymous and Narcotics Annonymous, although some have more steps and require a lot of time for people to recover. These places are funded through a combo of the state and charities/ churches and personal donations from residents for food etc and are generally only open to people if they can get signed off working by their GP's on account of having a life controlling addiction. NA and AA both provide drop in clinics for people in work etc. My old flat mate has been sober for over 2 years now and good on him I say, a fantastic achievement for somebody who works in the hospitality industry!
actually a friend of friend went in to a private rehab clinic for drink-related problems and as far as i know that family are not rich. and the best thing is, it worked and the person has been T-total for over 10years (ish).
but i think celebs also go in to rehab as a pr stunt.
Re hab is good and it works but the person has to try to change and alot of the time they have to change lifestyles and friends depending on their problems.
Stars go in and come out to the same situation that made them go in so are doomed to be in again. I reckon alot is pr as if they wanted to get well they would.
Some stars do go in and you never hear about them again. They are the successful ones that have moved on.
Biillions of people around the world go into rehab many are succesful and many fail but nobody including the media cares when average Jo Shmo goes into rehab so you don't hear about it. Many worldwide 12 step programs are free and not all the in patient clinics are expensive. http://www.12step.com
