Fungus on Toes

I have a Fungal infection on my big toe and it seems as though it's spreading to my other toes.

Has anybody had the same problem? If so what did your doctor say? and what did they prescribe you?

And did the medication clear this fungal infection?

Any help really appreciated.

mr B has suffered with this on and off for years. Went to the GP with him and the female doc had it too!!! and really bad.
She had her shoes off, and she said she was painting them with nail varnish to try and hide them....(they were disappearing).
Now then, we were there to get Terbinafine and the doc said she wouldn't take them because of the side effects :-/ but.... mr B, although they do have strong side effects, took them and it has as good as gone. BUT.... when it was at it's worst it spread to his body and that took a dandruff shampoo to get rid of it called SELSUN... and boy does that stink!!! hehe....
The drug made him feel sick and a little unwell and his blood test came back a bit scewey as it can affect the liver too. I think that is a rarish side effect though.
I now keep him away from yeast products..... so no mushrooms, no bread and no beer lol..... don't feed it!!!

Keep it under control now because it spreads ok....

Daktakort for a horrible dose of athletes foot which had spread virtually everywhere, didn't get rid of it. you can get oral tablets called Lamisil to get rid of fungal infections, its a 2week course combined with your cream. You chould change all your shoes too though for long term effect.

In the Army we were issued with a foul smelling talc called "mycotta". Good foot hygiene (I was in the Infantry then transferred to to Medical Corps) and a liberal dousing with the powder worked wonders. I dont know if they sell it in chemist shops but if they do, I highly recomend it.

the talc joh is talking about is called Mycil in boots and the like.

I had the same. A course of terbinafine (3 months) cured it with no side effects.

Canestan AF does the trick, works on other rashes too. The oil is best as it goes a bit further. Gets rid of it for a while but my feet take a pounding every week at footy and doing hill walking so it comes back quite often. Get im to use a pummice stone for hard skin too.
