Several years ago I moved away from my family and friends. Now i'm thinking it may be time to move back! I originally moved as I found my ideal job. Still doing the job and loving every minute of it but also thinking I'd like to be back near my family and friends. I visit my family on a monthly basis but it isn't quite the same as having them there all the time. Obviously things have changed a lot since I moved away. Friends have got married etc. So i'm thinking that I may just be remembering the good times and if I move back I may be disappointed (obviously not with the family)! Have any of you ever moved away from home only to move back several years later? Is going backwards the right thing to do?

Although change is sometimes good, why fix when it's not broke?
Hi, Read this and thought i would reply When i was 16 i moved from up North to down south. Later after i had finished college and so forth i moved back up, thinking that i could just slot back into my old life. I found that a lot had changed, from the friends i had kept and to just the feel of living there. I think that you should think about it very carefully. I think its nice to go back and visit people, but with you not being there all the time, maybe these people will appreciate you a bit more!
Not sure if thats helped really!
Hi efc.
You are in exactly the same position as me except this weekend Ive FINALLY made the decision to go back.
I came to Bedfordshire 7 years ago after applying for a job, finally god the job and house id always dreamed of BUT I miss my friends and family like crazy. Its going to be so hard leaving my life here but I realised the thought of going back there is never out of my mind. When I see how quickly my little cousins are growing up and my Nan getting older and my friends going out every night or meeting for lunch in the local bar it makes me realise what I need to do. Im completely torn between my "dream" lifestyle here or friends and family, infact typing this is sort of making me change my mind again! Oh god, im going now before it starts again. Sorry to babble on about myself, I hope you make the right decision, follow your heart x

Thanks for all your answers - twinkle2 you got it spot on!! It's definately the family and friends thing. I also worry about my parents who aren't getting any younger. I have an older brother that lives quite near them but they don't see him from one Christmas to the next!
Only problem for me is that my ex lives up there and lets just say that we didn't part on the best of terms! lol
