My ex hubby proposed in bed one day (He arrived very early in morning and i had my jammies on if crete asks). Just came out with it, nothing spectacular or planned, just right.
Mind you I want the full works next time (just in case youre reading sweetheart)
He did it on xmas day 1993 at my mums. She asked me to fetch something from the kitchen ..when I came back to the table there was a ring box on my place. He also had asked my dad if it was ok secretly in the pub earlier. So he did do it right was quite embarrassed. Got married in 1998. & Paddys Day will be 17 years from our 1st date. Oh my GOD I feel old now!!!
He asked me in the car park of our town centre...very romantic. I said yes and he bought me a beautiful ring. We then went for a meal and he asked me again properly. Only a few weeks to go and I'll be Mrs JOEYGREEN. I must say though most of the other comments aren't very encouraging!
In a nice little Italian in Brussels after a couple of glasses of Valpolicella. She'd taken me away for the weekend for my b'day so she wasn't expecting it. She sat there nervously tearing a doily apart while I tried to express my love for her (not too good with words, esp after vino de callapso)... She eventually said 'oh, alright then' after a couple of hours and a couple more bottles. I've still got the doily in my wallet.
Oh, and it wasn't a spur of the moment thing. I'd planned to propose after 1 year of living together. Unfortunately, a colleague of hers died in an RTA on that 1 year anniversary so I postponed it a couple of months....
Mr Boo bought my engagement ring intending to propose at the millenium, however i was in such a mood because of my tatty Xmas present (all he could afford after buying the ring) he almost threw it at me during Xmas dinner with the words....
"Was gonna give you this New Year, but I'm not putting up with that bloody face for a whole week"
lol, yeah you're right 4get, however you gotta understand that i'd been living with him for 8 years by stage and he'd bought me a book for christmas....a book! How was I to know there was an engagement ring as well eh?
