Why is it socially acceptable to call someone a ginger?
It is not acceptable to single someone out by the colour of their skin and call them a black/yellow/red/white.
It is not acceptable to single someone out by their religion and call them a muslim/jew/christian.
Why is it then acceptable to single someone out by the colour of their hair?
They are all prejudiced remarks so whats the difference?

btw a tv prog called game on used ginger ****** jokes every single epiosode.
did you complain to them.
as they were mass media audience?
or you just lookin to cause trouble?
i suspect the latter.
the word is t0sser
Question Author
Yes I am well aware of the programme Game On!
No I did not complain as it is not something that particularly bothers me. I just got to wondering after reading another one of your illiterate posts concerning Mick Hucknall "m8"

After all "m8" this is a place where you can ask questions isn't it? If the question happens to bother you then don't answer it!
There is no point in complaining about TV programmes using that language..after all, it happens in *real life* so why not show someone saying it on TV?
Nothing wrong with calling someone ginger haired is there? It's only an insult when it's follwed by the word t0sser, and it all fairness if someone called me a brown haired t0sser i'd be equally as insulted.
Just because there isn't a specific law against prejudice to hair colour doesn't mean it is socially acceptable.
Question Author
Boo, thats exactly what I mean. However it seems to be an extremely frequent insult to people with ginger, red or auburn colours of hair. Children with ginger hair get victimised at school but it seems to go largely unpunished and is not percieved as being as serious as racsit abuse. I was just wondering what people's thoughts were?

My question asks if there is any difference between calling someone a ginger t***** compared to calling someone a black t***** etc?

What do you think?
get over your self gevs 66

if im illiterate im still managing to post.
people like you just go to show how pompous and stuck up you can really be .
i wouldnt call yuo a ginger t0sser.
i think youre just a t0sser.
oh go run and complain.
but you wont find me crying like a little b!tch cos you called me illiterate.
or did you mean illigitemate?
whatever tever.
go back to your solo game of chess gav.

if youre a t0sser youre a t0sser.
dont matter bout your hair or skin or sex.

and mick hucknall is a ginger t0sser so accept it and move on.

heres a hanky m8.

i say m8 cos i know youre stuck in the 20th century ,can you text oh your phone yet?
or do you need help??
Yeah see what you mean Gevs, to be honest I'd not given it much thought seeing as neither me or anyone in my family are red haired.

Can see where you're coming from though, it does seem that if you're red haired you are subject to being insulted because of it? Weird innit? I happen to think it's a beautiful hair colour too.

Can't really answer your question I'm afraid, maybe as long as the topic of your religion isn't mentioned it's not seen as venomous???
its not religious or racist.
ginger hair knows no religion or faith or denomination.
storm in a tea cup.
attempt by a fuddy duddy to start a pc witch hunt..
are you bored today gav 1699?

Good answer Boo, at least one person is actually trying to answer the question in an intelligent way, thank you.
i think this country is turning too pc. bullying is part of childhood and life.

if it wasn't hair colour then it would be something else
I see where you're comng from totally Gevs, my cousin was verbally abused all his life about his hair colour at school it really affected him and his self confidence. He is still referred to as GingerT0sser at work etc, if it was his skin colour he could do something about it but as it stands his bosses and work mates get away with this form of bullying.
Gevs1966...Being nasty to someone because of the colour of their hair isn't nice...but somehow seems to be ok in our society whereas racism is not tolerated.....I think its a sign of the times we're in..
legend760.....you're nasty......I don't think you can be nice about or to anyone....still karma eh...whats your problem because you sure have one?...
.

.
hiya
i have red/auburn hair and can remember getting a lot of stick at school although long time ago now,but back then it was considered funny to others and not prejudiced at all.
anyway we are less likely to go grey haired apparently lol

Legend, thanks for hijacking this perfctly legitimate question and turning it into ramblings and attempted insults.

Just to clarify a few of those attempts on your part.....
I'm not crying like a small female dog so no need for the hanky, thanks for the kind offer though.

Calling me a ****** i have to admit is, I have to say factualy accurate as like the huge majority of men in this world I have strummed the old instrument from time to time.

You seem to have judged my age by my username in respect to your reference to me being a fuddy duddy. However like most of your assumptions you have once again judged too soon as I am only 26.

If by trying to take a little pride in my spelling, punctuation and grammar makes me pompous and stuck up then I'm afraid I am guilty as charged.

The original question was merely something I was wondering about and not a particular reflection of my own hair colour or experience with those of ginger hair.

Now are there any other juvenile remarks you would like me to rebuff?
