Decorating the house from top to bottom, trying to make exquisite things out of gold leaf and tissue paper, plus baking tray upon tray of tiny mouthfuls while looking fresh and perfectly groomed is frankly my idea of hell! I know this hasn't answered your question but I truly think the 'Good Housekeeping' type of mags have a lot to answer for, putting tremdous pressure on women this time of year. Sorry - I'll shut up now!!!
My wife is a feminist - bless her little jogging bottoms - and she says that spending the whole of the festive season cooking and waiting on evrybody should be shared between all parties, rather than it just being her.
Well I simply reminded her that the cooker was a gift to her from me, and - anyway - I'm usually too busy drinking wine and laughing at my own jokes to lend a hand.
Hope that helps deary!
Typical Christmas Day:- 8am, serve Mrs. Gef with Buck's Fizz in bed and give her lots of expensive presents (she won't complain until the bank statement arrives in January). 8.30am, get back into to bed (fingers crossed). 8.31 am, get up and make full cooked breakfast for Mrs. Gef. 10.00am - 1.00pm, cook four course Christmas lunch for Mrs. Gef. 3.00pm, fall asleep in chair so that Mrs. Gef can watch whatever she wants on TV. 10.00pm, get a row from Mrs. Gef for being drunk all day. Roll on next Christmas!
