Home remedies for candidiasis (thrush) include the consumption or direct application of yogurt (which contains lactobacillus), probiotics, acidophilus tablets or salves, and even lightly crushed cloves of garlic, which yield allicin, an antifungal agent. Boric acid has also been used to treat yeast infections (by inserting gelcaps filled with boric acid powder into the vagina at bedtime for three to four consecutive nights). Eating a diet consisting primarily of green, fresh, raw vegetables also may give relief.
Alternative treatment for Candidiasis for those interested in a more holistic approach would be to consume a fermented beverage that is very similar in taste and texture to "drinkable yogurt" called Kefir.

Mrknowall has a point. A popular misconception is the youhurt. It has to be live yoghurt not just normal yoghurt to work. It is better eaten and applied directly to the affected area (a tampon can bu used to assist). Live yoghurt is usually a very efective treatment.
. You can take an over the counter remedie whilst on the ab but until you have finished the course it will just come back so it is false economy as with anything the gp gives. Unfortunatly it is a common very irritating problem we have to endure. Hope he did not put you on a long course.

Thanks for all your advice.
I was in serious pain earlier, but I phoned the pharmacy, and they checked with the doctors. Apparently medical treatments are not supposed to be used with the anti-biotics I was taking.
I was advised to come off the tablets and use the medical creams needed to help the thrush.
And I was using Live yoghurt to sooth it, but it did not help.
I am supposed to be taking anti-biotics for a gall stone or gall bladder infection (Awaiting scan) therefore had been given a course for only a week until they found out what was wrong.
Once again, thanks for the advice
