I'm a manic depressive and i'm taking medication. But I feel so suicidal at the minute. I see a counsillor and she helps. But its when i'm on my own it's terrible. I know i'm selfish as there are lots of people out there suffering. I just feel so on my own. I have lost touch with my family.
I'm so depressed at the moment and I feel that life is not worth living. I hate feeling like this.

I have suffered depression in the past and it is true to say that when I was alone all my problems became magnified and as I had no distractions they were all I thought about - ending up in a catch 22 situation!
is there any way you can restablish contact with your family, even just one of them?
Could your consellor recommend any self help groups that you could attend, meeting people with similar problems can help as they will understand completely what you are going through.
Please take good care of yourself and we are always here to listen.

Please phone your councillor, she must have given you a number for times like these.
If you don't have a number for her, phone your doctor's surgery. It will divert you to the night duty doctor, please talk to him/her.
There is no shame, they really are there to help you.
Please, please make that call now. Then post here to let me know you are ok.

Thanks for posting back Corkscrewed, I was worrying about you.
Night times are always the worst, the problems of the day seem to mould themselves into a club and beat you. Don't let them win.
Take care and don't feel embarrassed about calling anyone, they would rather that than feel they had let you down.

Hope you managed to speak to your councellor or a doctor love as I came across your post this morning and I am thankful,as you were, that night owls as kind as warpig3 and parfavour are out there. Its true how troubles and depression are worse in the cold dark of the night. Please keep talking on here if it helps as there will always be someone to listen.
Well anyone would hate feeling like this and you are doing the right thing by talking to counsellors and medical practitioners and of course taking your medication.
However, I wouldnt recommend surfing random internet forums at 3am in the morning as that can lead to all sorts of diminutions in well-being. The Samaritans are available 24 hours a day and when you feel at your darkest you should call them for a chat, support and guidance on:
08457 90 90 90
Avoid internet forums, talk to people who can really help.

Your councillor should be able to help you. Perhaps she can put you in touch with somewhere you can go for a few hours or so. My sister was in the same positition and she went to a centre once a week. Ok I know once a week isn't much but it took her mind off things for that time. We all feel low at some time and it is when you are alone that it is worse. Fortunately we are able to distract ourselves which I know for you is much harder. Perhaps go for a walk, somewhere where you will see other people. Even if they just say hello, it makes you feel you are not so alone. I sincerely hope you feel better soon.
No doubt warpig. Odd though that we should have a discussion on internet forum suicide encouragement and whether this could happen on AB, and almost the very same day such a question post pops up.
It is possible that this post is genuine, who knows, and no doubt you felt some form of responsibility, hence your response and mine. I do not wish to demean any part of this thread, but whilst commendable, anyone feeling this way should really be talking it through with someone experienced in dealing with such things, not typing on the internet.
