Lanolin for dry hands

Is lanolin a good treatment for dry hands??

Its supposed to be but Ive never tried it myself.

Lanolin is wonderful but very greasy. The best way to use it for your hands would be to rub it in thickly immediately before bed, and put thin cotton gloves on.

Alternatively, E45 is as good anything.

I have very dry hands, I use 'The Sanctuary' hand scrub followed by their hand soak - you can use this as a normal hand wash or soak your hands in it for a few mins.
They also have a hand cream too which is lovely.

Best of all you can buy them all in trial size so that you can carry them round with you. I stick them in my bag to take to work with me.

Pure lanolin is good but not very user friendly. Neutrogena norweegen formula is good but for really chapped or cracked hands the best thing is one of these cracked heel/hardskin on foot creams based on Urea. They are brilliant at healing cracks up then use a regular hand cream for prevention. The one I have is a compeed one but there are several around in the chemists.

If you use Lanolin, you will deffo. need the cotton gloves but to be honest if you love your sheets I would top them with a thin latex pair too. I use Norweigan Neutragena as it is very concentrated. Much cheaper to buy in Costco if you know someone with a card. We used to sell Lanolin in the pharmacy when I worked there, interesting aroma, but we had a couple of customers who swore by it. For a home made exfoliant - for hands - you can use a bit of olive oil and a spoon of sugar - then moisturise.
