For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.doing situps straight after you eat probably isnt the best idea as you may get indegestion! but well done for doing exercise, try and vary it by doing some cardio (stuff that gets you sweaty) as this will burn off fat whereas situps tend to tone more than burn off fat, you should aim to do about 30 mins of gentle exercise every day, less i presume if you're doing something a bit more energetic. just try to eat a balanced diet, smaller portions than you usually would if your aiming to lose weight, don't try and completely avoid sweet things, it'll completely demoralise you! and good luck!
I lost 3 Stone doing this -
cut out bread altogether.
Low fat natural yoghurt/sliced banana for breakfast
Cottage cheese (any variety)/salad/ryvita (or similar) for lunch
Normal evening meal.
Visited the gym three to four times a week for and hour to hour and a half, mixture of weights/stretching/cardio.
Cardio exercise would be more beneficial, so if you can't get to the gym, consider jogging/cycling/swimming.

Fruit is excellant so stick with it. NEVER count calories. Fat makes you fat not sugar in fruit. Try baking apples with some hiney and dried sultanas etc for an extra sweet kick.
As said, sit ups are not really an aerobic excercise. A twenty minute walk will be better than doing sit ups.
Also drink as much water as you can. Do not worry, you have to drink about 7 gallons before it is dangerous. Water will fill you up and burn calories without doing nothing in its passage.
My advice which I have said on here numerous times is invest in a heart monitor. They are fairly cheap nowadays.
Simple sums to get you best heart rate for fat burning.
220 (beats per minute) minus your age and work between 60-70 percent of that rate.
Therefore if you are 16 years old
220-16=204 60-70% of 204= 122 to 144 beats per minute.
when walking, running, cycling etc (any aerobic work) make sure you heart is between these zones for AT LEAST 20 minutes.
Any lower, it will be just a workout for the heart, fat WILL NOT BE BURNT. Any higher, and although more exhaustive will, believe it or not, NOT BURN FAT!!!!
If not that fit, trust me 60-70 percent of your max heart rate is not that tough.
NEVER NEVER NEVER go above your maximum heart rate (220-your age) NEVER. I can not stress this. You may die!!
Also, I am not a big fan of "new ideas" but have heard spicey foods speed up the metabolism. You rarely see a fat Asian, do you?

Joe the lion is talking complete pump! How can fat make you fat? Balls!!! Keep up the exercise, think about some press ups to go along with the situps. Avoid refined sugar, eating fruit is good for you. Joe is right about the heart rate monitor, but buy a book and take the advice from it. Cardio is important too!!!
Hi Georgie, You do seem in a panic about all this for someone so young, please just relax. Carry on eating as much fruit as you like, it is great for you, also drink lots of fruit juice too and water (but if you are like me drinking water on its own is very boring) I try to drink pure fruit juice, so be careful what you buy as it can contain a lot of sugar. Or better still get juicing! Eat little and often if you can, dont be too obsessed with fats and sugars etc, most people who are dieting are so moody because they appear to be stressed out about losing weight ! People also eat when they are bored, so go for a walk, borrow a friends dog and walk him with a group of you - do some fun things, dancing to your favourite tunes or how about swimming again with friends, not on your own this is how the boredom sets in, play badminton, go for a fun cycle ride....anything to get you out of the house. Also join sas many out of school groups as you can, you will get the support you need ! Please just enjoy your life....take it easy, RQ x
How can fat make you fat???? Because it is stored residues of energy that will only burn off after carbohydrates, i.e sugars.
Obviously sitting here in complete health, still running 5 miles in under half an hour (AT MY AGE) with a BMI of about 22 and can not remember the last time I was ill, I am talking complete pump.
Please do not be so rude. I have no formal qualifications in sports science, because on the whole such subject matters were reserved for more stupid students. I know more about diet and fittness than you dear boy and with that attitude ever will know!!!
I am sorry but anybody whose first line is to question "How can fat make you fat?" should really never be listened to.

Probably too late but....sorry for being rude however, eating fat does not make one fat. Eating too many much makes you fat. There is no reason to avoid fat just the excess consumption of it. The same no doubt goes for lettuce though you'd need to eat quite a bit of it to match the calories. I just really hate it when people say 'don't eat that, its fattening', thats whats complete pump!
