Bullying in the workplace
11 Answers
This is a serious question. Got work tomorrow and hate the thought of going there. They are a cliched bunch ( i have only been there 8 months) I need to work as have children and myself to support, but find the atmosphere unbearable. How can I deal with it? There is one particular woman who gives me the most mundane jobs, doesnt speak to me, and makes my day really a nightmare.

She makes me feel like I am the f*cking office junior and I am only 2 yrs younger than her (in my 40's) But look 10 yrs younger (no bragging intended) better get to bed to face tomorrow. Night all xx
I have found that the only way to combat this is to divide and conquor , i would single out the least nasty one and try to gain their confidence and let that person see that i was not a threat and just wanted to be accepted ,so a little humble pie may be required at first ,be helpful towards this one person without appearing to be over eager offer help when you can and slowly work on them until they begin to accept you they should then if i am not mistaken drop hints to the others that you after all are ok and perhaps should be treated better , of course if there is a dominant one amongst them then they will be the hardest nut to crack , the next part is to get all the others to see that this person is being unreasonable and after a bit of hard work and a word in the right place you should come to be accepted, then when a new person starts at your works you should remember how you felt and be the first to welcome them and make them feel comfortable .

Your employer should be aware of harrassment and equal opportunity policies, may be if you mentioned to him how miserable you are. No one should feel in any way threatened or uncomfortable in their work place. It is clearly affecting your home life and will eventually rub off on your children. Aside from this could you talk to this woman ask her why she is being unreasonable towards you? I know what you are going through believe me I have been through the mill myself I really do sympathise. Failing all this you could look for another job?
