Thanks to John and MissyR for your replies. Sorry to sound totally stupid, but if I perform a monolgue without looking directly at the judges, where do i look? Should I concentrate on a certain object say to the side of the judge, or in a completely different direction??

The thing is, one of my monologues is supposed to be me talking to a friend face to face about a really embarrassing story, this is why i'm finding it difficult not to concentrate on something.
If you can find a video clip of Joyce Grenfell doing the school teacher monologue, you will find exactly what I mean. She does monologue brilliantly, and funny with it.
