After the tragic shootings in Virginia its all coming to light that this boy had been asked to go to counselling because of his strange stories which he wrote in English lessons. It got me wondering why doesn't anyone ever think that directors like Quentin Tarantino are sick minded to think of this stuff and should be sectioned. Just because they haven't killed yet surely doesn't mean that these people should get acknowledged for their brilliant writing. Don't get me wrong I like Quentin's films but surely aren't we all a bit strange then.

it is worrying yes , and these people do often seem to slip the net as such , but the thing is im not sure you can ever prevent things like this happening it is very sad , but who really knows what goes on in someones else's mind?

who decides whats weird enough to warrant sectioning though? - lots of people think nudity is weird and harmful, but to many it is completely normal and harmeless, and even a way of life.

the difference between tarantino is that this is his job, he switches it on and off when necessary and knows the difference between his films and reality.
he does it in a controlled and calculated manner to get the best effect - his scripts are not manic, barely literate, fantasies, full of threats and anger and a desire to personally harm others

anyone can sit down and write the most disgusting sickest things imaginable - it is inside and we are all aware of the sickening things in the world - doesn't mean we like it.

Add to those answers that people are trying to get a grip on why a person would do something like this. Playing the 'mental' card gives people a reason that people are more willing to accept. We know nothing of the extent of his care etc, but it was a couple of years ago. No-one really likes the idea that he might quite have killed people that he thought deserved it in a logical manner, nor that he might have enjoyed such behaviour. If he was mentally unstable it gives people a reason.

The man was mad, simple as that. Combined with the laissez faire gun laws in the USA, this is what happened.

I am sure if somebody is that mad however, you don't even need a gun.

Michael Ryan did because he attacked fully grown adults, but take that sicko Thomas Hamilton. I am sure I could go in to an infant school and kill the entire school with my bare hands without the need for a gun.

Violence and gore have allways been a part of entertainment. Look at the classic Greek and Roman writers. Homer was hardly Floella Benjamin was he? And also the entertainment. Being thrown to the lions, Gladiator fights and a good public hanging were the Coronation Street of the day.

Even the Bible is violent in parts, the flooding of an entire civilisation for example.

Taratino does not creat madness, people are just born mad.

he went back to his school and killed children - dunblane that was it , it is frightening , there are so many weirdos , scitzophrencics not taking medication all around that we are not really safe any more
