Race to size 00 - rubbish diets you have tried
10 Answers
Watching the race to size 00 last night, I was astounded at how many of the quick fixes I have heard of or in the past considered myself (shamefully). What plain silly things have you done to try and lose weight? And if you did it over a prolonged period of time did you experience any weird psychological effects? You wouldn't catch me swimming in an outdoor pool at minus 2 degrees!!

Seriously, looking back I think my weight issue was started by my mum. I can clearly remember her starting this diet where you only ate fruit, apples only one day then bananas only the next, and she would get me to do this with her even thought I was only about 14.So when I couldn't do it for more than 2 days and she carried on I felt a failure. Then she did the High Fibre diet, again putting me on it as well!
The daftest one I have tried as an adult though is the one where you only drink these shakes/bars - no normal foos is allowed and you can only drink water, not even a cup of tea is allowed! I did it for 5 days and then came to my senses!!
And now I just eat sensibly, exercise quite a lot and its working a treat!

that programme was so awful - anorexics and bulimics could have picked up tips from it - i see it as nothing other as a way to promote eating disorders.
i went on atkins and i lost loads of weiht but fainted and vomitted every day...and put all the weight back on quicker than i lost it!! Am doing the weight watchers pint diet now and its working a treat and is sensible too!!

I watched this too - what I find really awful is that all of these recent programmes have picked quite 'small' girls in the first place. I am 5'9' and I would never be able to get to a sixe zero unless I was dead and partiaally decomposed! I know this as when I was 18-19 I was naturally very, very thin. I didn't diet I was just a size 10/12 ( which I think is an american size 6). Following a bout of food poisoning I lost nearly a stone and I was hospitalised because I 'only' weighed 7 stone12pounds .....and I was still a size 10!
