How long does alcohol stay in your system for?

I went out last night with the lads from work.. Started drinking at 5ish and stopped and was home by 9:30... got straight into bed (I am guessing.. as I woke up fully clothed this morning) and I have been awake since about 8ish! Had a good nights sleep and feel ok... a little shakey as I think I need food and a small headache but other than that.. ok.

But I need to go and collect my car from work as I left it there. Do you think I will be ok to drive? If I get pulled over... will there still be enough alcohol in my system to get me into trouble?

Hi Ruby - as a rule of thumb it takes approximately 1 hour for each unit of alcohol to leave the body, so if you had say 8 glasses of wine it takes 8 hours so, depending on how much you drank, you could still be over thre limit.

I used to work on a refinery and we could be randomly tested at any time (instant dismissal if you were over the limit) so you had to be very careful about counting your drinks!

For future sessions...you can buy mini testing kits, I've seen them in Halfords. That way you could check.

Thanks Hellyon... I don't remember how many I had though! We set up a tab again and the guys paid! Lol. I remember playing pool and saying I had had 5 glasses... that was at about 7ish... I don't remember much more after that!
Tut Tut missy! (only joking)! I'd leave it till lunch time, have a big breakfast and some anadin.Hope you had a good time.x
i agree with hellion, except for 1 point she or he missed out ... the 1 hour for every unit it right, but you can only start counting once you stop drinking, so 1 hour for every unit approx starting from your last drink. The other thing to note is that people tnd t vastly underestimate "unit" size (ie a large glass of wine is nearly 3 units, a pint of strong beer is 3 units etc

Yaaay! 3Rainbows... You did it.
I will text you later and let you know how the lunch went yesterday. You out tonight? We are hoping to leave the Hen party and be in town by 11.

I did it anyway.. I went to town... had lunch... shopped and drove home. I was fine.. I have just got back so I left it long enough.
