OK, I appreciate that most of te women on that prog are pikey mingers(!), but there have been one or two cuteys!

What I can't understand is.....................

When asked, "so why do you stay with a bloke who beats you up, does nothing to help around the house/with the kids, treats you disrespectfully, steals from you, has been unfaithful to you on NUMEROUS occasions, is making NO EFFORT to find work?" why, oh why do they (more often than not) reply with, "coz I love him"! WHAT THE HELL IS THERE TO LOVE?????????

And yes, I AM a saddo coz I tape it and watch it when i get home from work! :o)

anyone who feels the need to appear on the programme in the first place are either very stupid or being paid to look stupid,im surprised anyone would wish to watch the programme in the first place.
Well I have just tuned in, and can guarantee you that the first two women are NOT cuties.

One is a size 26 heroin addicted prostitute and the other (the assumed normal one) looks just as bad.

I think the programme is quite entertaining, but I do not think I would even consider recording it.

David Attenborough is great, but surely it would be better to be in the Amazon Rain Forest yourself, likewise English Rugby is fantastic but BBC does not quite have the same atmosphere as Twickers does it?

cant understand it either. I know that some men of course and women manage to run their partners to the ground and leave them lacking self esteem and they feel they are worthless and also unable to leave but these woman are actually able to go on the tele and tell their story - probably just making it up to get on tele???
I always like the thought of these programmes if I have a days holiday and think i will enjoy watching them - feeling that I should actually be at work. Within about 5 minutes they really annoy me and I cant watch anymore. I feel they are pretty much made up or at least exagerated.
Oh surreyGuy don`t ask because i am lost for words,my neighbour is 22 she has 2 children by an absolute monster of a man ,he`s 35,a pot head, always in and out of the nick for robbery (the latest being him stealing clothes off washing lines!!),beats the hell out of her on a regular basis, steals the giro money and ******* off for days on end leaving them with nothing...you get the picture, she`s been in a refuge more times than i can count, the police come at least twice a week and guess what her answer is if i ask why she doesn`t leave..."BECAUSE I LOVE HIM".
Sometimes trash tv is compulsive viewing!
I think back in in the dim and distant past this kind of programme did start out as genuine discussions, but now they are just wheeled out for the 'entertainment' of the watching public!
I normally do not bother to watch, but if I happen to turn on the telly and one of these is on, then I can get caught up in the problem!
To try to give a serious answer to your question surreyguy, women who are genuinely in this predicament, are so brainwashed by the guy into believeing that no one else will want them, that they are frightened to leave. In fact, they get comfortable with the situation they are in, believe it or not, as they have not known anything else for such a long time. Or they have been mentally or physically abused as kids and go on to find another abusive relationship as they have been conditioned to accept that this is the norm.
Sorry, I will get off my amateur psychology box now!
Cheers Sue
were the people on the programme from Wales and Scotland Jo - or do you feel they are the only places where it happens?
I think there are two reasons SurreyGuy, and I stress that neither of these are logical;
If a woman keeps quiet about the way she is treated it is because she is too embarrassed/ashamed to admit to the world that she made a really bad choice of partner. It's kind of admitting in public that you're an idiot.

If she's vocal about the way she is treated but still stays then it is because she has very poor self esteem, therefore any relationship is better than none.

Sadly I think a lot of women stay in relationships like this because they have no idea how to get out of them i.e nowhere to go.

Personally i would never stay in an abusive relationship because I have too much respect for myself.
I have no idea. When they speak outside of Received Pronunciation, they all sound the same.

However, I would say that Welsh and Scotch estates are worse than English ones. However, I am aware that England has run down peasant colonies as well. I once had the misfortune in travelling to Leicester, and correct me if I am wrong, there are women in Portsmouth who frequently use the F-word and have be known to spit in public.

i only watch it cos i think jeremy kyle is very handsome . yum .
Jezza Kyle is HOT, HOT, HOT :-)

Thanks all! :o)

Well I am not exactly the world's most confident person, but I'd rather be on my own for the RIGHT reasons than be "with someone" for the WRONG ones!

Personally, I've never put up being treated badly (nor have I treated a woman badly) - and I never will.

;o) back @ SG30 x
