thank u julie xx
No worries, good price too eh? You've made me want to watch it, so after you've seen it, give us a lend will ya? lol
Did you know David Bowie played The Elephant Man on stage.

Infact when John Lennon got shot, Bowie was just around the corner in the theatre. And Mark Chapman (the killer) had Bowie'e name on what many have considered a "hit list".

Another amazing fact from Joe_the_Lion. xXx

www.amazon.co.uk should be able to sort it for you red.
I ordered 2 boxed - set DVD's of the 70's series Budgie ( WHAT i ordered is irrelevant, I know but just wanted to share it with the group ) on Sunday evening at 11.45, and they arrived on Tuesday morning, and the postage was free.
They were cheaper than on ebay too !!
Good luck x x

One of my favourite films too.

I would also recommend www.play.com. I've always found them to be very efficient & you don't have to pay postage - unlike Amazon, where you have to pay postage on orders under 15.00.

My last order was the 1948 b&w non-musical version of Oliver. Also Goodbye Mr. Chips - two more of my favourites, apart from It's a Wonderful Life & Rebecca!
Smudgers, what great films you have quoted!!!!

Although I actually quite like the later version of Chips with Peter O'Toole.
Hi Joe (W) - thank you, glad you think so. I love most of the old classics.

I've also got the 1969 version of Goodbye Mr Chips with Peter O'Toole, it's brilliant.

Another one of my fav's is 'Dulcima', (1971), with John Mills & Carol White, sadly both no longer with us.
I'll tell you what smudgers, though you probably already know. Talking of Robert Donat, have you seen one of the many remakes of The 39 steps with Robert Powell called The Thirty Nine steps as opposed to 39.

It is available on dvd and is one of the best versions ever. I have to say better than Donats.
Further fuel for the brigage who consider working with or within short distance of Sir David of Bowie will result in death, Wardy ;o)
Thanks Joe.W - Do you mean this one?:

If so, no I haven't seen that version yet , but if it's as good or better than the first one, I shall certainly look into ordering it.

Sorry to hijack your thread redhead! ;o}
Thats the one smudgers. Honestly it is brilliant.

Pippster:

You are quite right, but remember Bowie and Lennon worked together on Fame. Lennon is now dead.

Under Pressure. Freddie is now dead

Marc Bolan's last public show was with Bowie

Bing Crosby's last public show was with Bowie

Mick Ronson's last public show was with Bowie

Lester Bowie (no relation) last public show was with Bowie

Charlie Chaplin's last meal, Bowie was at the table

Andy Warhol's last public engagement was due to be with Bowie.

Nirvana's last single was The Man Who Sold the World.

Spooooooooooky

Ricky Gervais must be worried!
Forgot to mention Jim Henson's last proper film was labyrinth

Dennis wilson died two weeks after Bowie recorded God Only Knows

Bowie's first chat show was with Russel Harty

The first person to release a Syd Barratt song after his death was Bowie.

Hell.........................................
