Who was average at school?
12 Answers
Doesn't it wind you up that you were classed as this?
I've just left school, finishing my exams etc.
I'm very happy this and I am expected to get average results.
What really gets me though is that no ever actually cares about the children that don't mis-behave or that are not child proteges. As these two set are taken out of classes and get treated specially.
Maybe it's a blinkered and selfish view. But it's a good talking point.
Thanks =]

I don't mind being average, in fact, i like it! I guess it depends on how competitive you are anyway as to how that affects you. I'm not that way inclined in the slightest, just happy being who i am, good old average at everything unruliejulie!

Hello silver, hope you are well, so nothing has changed then,it is so true if you are average you tend be forgotten, the "Boffins and the idiots" are noticed as they are at each end of the spectrum that will never cahnge, you will be ok though,I know from your previous posts that when it comes to answering on here you are way above average, so don't worry,I was a dope at school and was asked to leave at 15, and trust me being called an idiot is far worse than being "average" Good luck to you in whatever career you follow, take care silver, good to see your name on here. xx
Thanks for all your answers and kind words (Especially ray =])
It really gets to me... there's this program called 'endeavour' at my old school where the 'under achieving' who don't care about their future (In particular) are always taken out of school, taken on trips such as bowling and meals out. Paid by the school and council tax.
It just seems so unfair.
It makes the ones that go un-noticed actually want to muck around and truent because at least you get attention that way!
Should the under-achieving ones be in school having extra tuition in order to make them 'decent' people in society?

Hi Silver, No it is not right that the ones that mess about are taken out on trips etc, it is totally wrong, they should be punished not rewarded, and I can understand your frustration and anger at the system, but the thing you must remember is you know it is wrong and you never resorted to misbehaving so to me that says you will be ok out in the big wide world, just look forward now in the knowledge that most of the ones that messed about will achieve nothing, you will achieve, so go for it, and good luck to you, Ray xx
When I went to my sons parent night when he was in the 6th form his tutor told me that he would never make anything of himself. He has now got a Bsc, Msc and a Phd. and earning mega money. Ignore what anyone says about you just get on with what you want in life and as long as you work at what you want you will be fine. When I was in sales many years ago my bosses favourite saying was the harder you work the luckier you get. Good luck for the futurexx.
All my school reports read the same....."Andrew is very capable of doing much better,if he spent as much effort in his work as he did at playing the clown he would be in the top half of the class"
I failed all my exams, every application form I filled out for job interviews I put down I had 5 O levels, no-one ever checked them and I`ve done ok for myself

Hi Silversky, congrats on finishing the exams. I'll never forget when my younger sibling was in primary school, a teacher told my mum how average he was and that he wouldn't go far. The said sibling is in year two of an economics degree - year one he got a first in his exams and he quite often receives letters of distinction from the university.
I don't think school children should really be openly classed as average by their teachers as it could make some unmotivated. Plus everybody is unique in their own special way!
