Hello!! Thanks for coming over, come on in. Kick your shoes off, go straight through - everyone's out by the pool. Grab a cocktail as you pass the table, barbecue should be ready in a bit. The pool's just right, the hot tub's ready to go and the kids are amusing themselves up in the tree house. Help yourself to the buffet - there's loads more where that came from. Ask the waiter for anything you need to drink, relax, just make yourself at home!! Daydream over. There is a question, not just a shameless trawl for birthday wishes......!! I'm 40 this time next year, so I want to know how did you/will you/would you celebrate the big FOUR-O??? If money was no object I'd have booked a private jet to the Maldives already, but any other ideas??

I have just celebrated my 45 last tuesday and has been the most horrible day of my life cos just found out on the day that i am going to be a grand mother already.
My 50 birthday will be on the plastic surgery table and if i had the dosh would go to the country of my dream: brazil i want to see the carnaval of rio since i was a little girl that has been my wish.

Hey Nutgoneflake - Thanks for the invite but I can't stay long. I have to get back and pack as I am going to Italy tomorrow. I just wanted to drop off this little gift for you... Two plane tickets to the Maldives... just a little gesture. Show me where the BBQ is? Oh there... brill.... Oooh... who is that hunk serving drinks in nothing but an apron and a bow tie? I might stay a little longer after all! ;o)


I am only 22 so my 40th hasn't really crossed my mind yet.. but one day I am going to have a birthday party where everyone invited has to come dressed in black and white... I will send out black and white invites and stuff... and then I will turn up in a red dress! Lol... That's the plan. I also want to have a fancy dress party where everyone has to come as a movie character. Might do that one for my 25th or something.

didn't do anything special for my 40th or 50th, so if money was no object and i make it to my 60th, i would love to travel all over the world, staying in the top class hotels, everyone waiting on me , living a life of luxury!! (if only.......

many happy returns nutgoneflake, I had a bog party for my 40th and it still brinmgs back great memories when I look at the photos, i contacted all the people from over the years that i had got to know and were scattered across the country, It was like a huge reunion but of people who had never met each other but all knew me! It was amazing how it turned out and it was like all my life was in one room for a night!! Even my husband was there with our best man and it went really well.
I think you should celebrate every birthday after 40 in a really over the top way though, you will have earned it.

Thanks everyone for your ideas - I was wondering what a bog party was too! And I LOVE the idea of a theme for everyone else apart from me...what an evil idea ruby!! I went to a cartoon character fancy dress party once - I was Professor Yaffle in a cardboard box sort of arrangement, but best of all Mr nutgone was one of the mice from the mouse organ. He wore a flowery dress and I made him a big cardboard head. Well, he had to be a GIRL mouse, didn't he??

Plastic surgery though?? Hadn't thought of that one, as I'm perfect already lol!!

I think a party every year from next year on would be a cracking idea. I'll count backwards each year then too....!!

I've had a fab day - the weather's been great, (but not as hot as where you are Legend) went out for lunch in a pub with a huge garden where the boys ran riot, then headed back towards home and went for a long walk in the woods on Longleat estate. We found a rope swing and ALL played on that for ages - my bum still hurts - then played hide and seek for about an hour and had ice cream on the way home.

Does that sound like a 39th, or a 9th to you?? It's only just occurred to me!! A pronounced lack of alcohol and loud music - must try harder...lol
