'Pot-heads' filling our hospital wards
28 Answers
Mental hospital admissions due to cannabis use have increased by 85% under Labour. Over the last five years there has been a 65% rise and this is said to only be the tip of the iceberg. Cannabis is one of the most commonly used drugs and can cause severe mental problems. People often see it as a soft and relatively harmless drug. What do you think? How can we stop people using this drug?

I think that cannabis accentuates mental ill health but I think it would be folly to label cannabis as the sole reason people have ended up being admitted to a hospital for a psychotic episode and would suggest that perhaps the majority of people that were admitted had tried cannabis as a way of self medicating on their way down to having such episodes. Problems with mental ill health don't just spring up over night and they can have many wide and varied triggers, cannabis using being only one.
WELL IF YOU STOPPED FOLK USING HASH THERED BE HARDLY ANY USERS ON AB .
AS THE MAjority have said they partake of it.
seems the claims that it does you no harm were drug induced fantasies.
i think you need to realise it is a dangerous drug.
hence the schizophrenia that it helps to cause .
also the mmod swings .

My neighbour has just been allowed out of a mental hospital which i beleive the police put him in (due to smoking "skunk").
He was a regular user of cannabis and i wrote a few questions about him on here.
His mother tells mine he's getting back on track since leaving and no longer smokes the stuff... but whether that continues i have no idea.

Forgot to say that what I just posted is common sense, but unfortunately it's something the younger generations are lacking as they have never been taught common sense approaches to drugs, it's always evil and wrong. Look at the crap Legend and Laurance talk about it, moderation not condemnation is what's needed.
