Earlier today my mother-in-law took delivery of a car load of flowers for her next door neighbour as she (the neighbour) was not at home. later when she returned my beloved ma-in-law (or as I call her, the leader of the opposition) met her as she was getting out of her car. "well I must say, you are very popular today" she said, "have you started dating again"?
The neighbour said "no, actually those flowers are for my son, he died yesterday"

Oh god John, similar thing happened to me when I worked in a oub. We used to have this little old couple come in and she used to chew my ear off everytime she came in. Well we were really busy and after I took her order she said something to me which I didnt hear, but I couldnt be arsed to ask her to repeat it so I went for a response that I thought would be best. so I laughed, smiled and said "Oh Right". About an hour later another member of staff came up and said "Jesus, I think shes gone a bit mad Junes told me about a dozen Edwin died 2 days ago".... as I played through the partly heard sentence, I could have died myself. I laughed for gods sakes.

I know its very wrong but that made me laugh!! I met a guy I work with and hadnt seen for a few weeks. I merrily asked had he been away on holidays and rambled on saying that knowing him it was somewhere exotic and go on- make me very jealous etc... and he said hed been off work cause his Mum had died. So even though Im laughing I know what it feels like!
