Well i am still pushing on in my job in retail managment but really finding it very difficult esp doing a lot of late shifts and not seeing my girlfriend very much.

I am now considering handing mhy notice in and moving up north to move in with her.
Though the reasons i dont want to do this are: i am afraid about telling my parents as i want to move out of home, it would be a very big risk to leave a job without one to go to but i cant take time off for an interview etc. also i have only been in the job for 3 months and would feel really bad about letting the company down.

Reasons to leave: i am not dealing with the stress at all well in my opinion some stress is fine but there is just too much and had a breakdown last christmas due to stress, the job is really not for me i am bord and dont like the atmosphere of retail, it is not where i want to be but thought i could manage to do it for a while until i knew where i wanted to be but i cant cope with it.

i dont think i can afford to get out now dot. but maybe if im so unsuited then sooner is better than later. i am just afraid my manager will be really angry.
well steve it is time to get out, think of yourself or you will eventually lose it and eventually it will reflect on your performance and eventually will get the sack and for what?
Figures,figures??? WHOAAA!
Your manager is not allowed to be angry, thinking that he/she will be is insulting their professionalism, there should be someone who is assigned as your mentor if you are a trainee, you need to be more honest with the real people in your day to day life, show them the courtesy of trusting their ability to help you.
I'm going to say something to you that my husband has said to me, If you can't change your situation change your attitude towards it! I have no idea what that is supposed to mean and to be honest when he said it to me I wanted to headbutt him. But it does seem quite fitting under the circumstances.x
It does Katie you are spot on, i have never experienced anyone quite as negative as steve, over the past two years he has had loads of advice but he seems to deteriorate in his oputlook with every post. he has always had encouragement and support form a number of people but there has to be some imput from him, !
steve can change though he isn't in prison, steve how do you think other people change jobs? if you dont like what your doing then get another job if you want to move in with your gf then move in with her i fail to see what the problem is here

i cant see me getting the timeofff to attend interviews etc. i dont want to tell them if i start looking for another job. at least when i was with the company but not a manager i had better hours and time to do applications or go to interviews.
he isn't even reading the posts people put up he is just wallowing looking for sympathy and then in a months time the same thread will start and the month after that
whatever you do steve, you are always going to upset someone so you may as well do what makes you happy, dont look at it as a failure, look at it as an experience.

Dont be indecisive, make a list of the things you really want to happen and work on how you will achieve it. Parents are always going to be upset when offspring leave home, mine were and it upset me that they were upset but they do get past it and understand that you are a grown up.

Dont worry about the job, in the big scheme of life it matters little anyway, the important thing is to find something you enjoy doing rather than something you are expected to do.

finally, re read some of your older posts to yourself, in a year from now do you want to be typing similar or do you want to make a change? Life is short and you have the world at your feet even if you cannot see it, you will kick yourself in 10 years if you dont do anything.

hindsight is mother of all lessons
as my mother would say give your self a shake pull your breeches up and stop wailing like a banshee :)
Steve, in the time you have just spent on here this morning you could have filled out an application form! If you need to go for an interview, throw a sicky! Come on, you are just cutting off your nose to spite your face.x
steve you creating barriers for yourself, if you really want a job then you will go to these interviews, your manager will not really care either way, he is just an employee as well and you are just a number.

get some back bone man!!, dont live your life based on not upsetting people, its a fact of life!
well said cazz!
tidy your bedroom and move the furniture around steve, that usually makes you feel more positive. : )
