Hi folks, just need a little support please. I've had a lousy week in work, fretted over doing a report for three days for a meeting I was dreading today. Am not usually so over whelmed but have felt anxious all week for no sane reason, Report done, meeting went without a hitch BUT I've been so worked up I need to wind down and quite fancy a glass of wine. Now my problem is my mum is a recovered alcoholic and I have a really hangup with drinking when alone in the house , I never do it unless I can chat to hubby first. I know I'm wierd, anyway he's away working, well sleeping at this very mo so should I pour a glass or not. Am a bit worried that I actually think it would help me chill!

A glass of wine won't kill you - or turn you into an alcoholic! You've got experience of that yourself, so are more aware than most people. Have a glass and enjoy it without any guilt! And congratulate yourself on a successful meeting!
You are not your mother - you don't want to get drunk, just to chill out - there is a big difference from relaxing with a glass of wine and being dependent on alcohol. Run a bath, pour a glass of wine and drink it in the bath - then go to bed - you won't want to go back downstairs for another glass anyway. Enjoy and well done.
a litt;e of what you like is good for you.
go on.

you know you want tooooooooooooo

Hey...chill.

It's a glass of wine and you sound like you deserve it.

You're obviously aware what the effects of alcohol can be like so give yourself a break. One glass at the end of the day won't hurt you.

Alcohol is a great thing if it is used in a way it should be used. You sound like the kind of person who would not abuse it so enjoy it's chillin effects every now and then.

Relax :-) It doesn't mean it will lead to anything else.

Cheers Everybody, I really appreciate your words. I haven't got a problem enjoying drinking, just the idea that I actually needed a glass tonight. Don't think I could be an alcoholic in this house if I tried, nearly burst a blood vessel pulling the cork out! Seriously though thanks folks, I had no one to talk to and you've helped me see sense.
