I took my 4 year old to McDonal;ds today as it's his birthday, as we were enjoying our meals a group of about 6 14-15 year old girls came in, ordered some diet cokes and sat near us, as they wre chatting away using foul language they started to burp loudly, then, as a resut of the copious amount of diet coke comsumed, they started a f4rting contest, it sounded as is every cotton sheet in Britain was being ripped`up!!!
Dear AB ladies, is this the kind of things you did when you were teenagers? has society changed so much since I was a lad? or am I just a prude?

That's so disrespectful of them jl! With your little one there too (happy birthday to him, too!)
Got to say, I wasn't much like that at all when I was that age, and I am only 21 now. I think society has changed-and I don't think this strive for ladette culture is a positive thing really-can't women be great in their own right, without having to emulate men's actions and try to (*ahem*) "trump" them.

I am a youth worker, and this "one of the boys" attitude really pervades current society, and I just think it's sad. Farting and burping one another out, in public? Classy!

Just think in a few years your Son may marry someone who thinks it's ' de-rigeur' and amusing to behave in such a way. I shudder to thing how things might 'progress' from this point onwards.
I have proclaimed Sunday lunch a burp free zone ... the kids call me Hyacinth? bloomin' cheek. Standards Sheridan - standards! lol

Terrible.
Eh! where's me stars??
Hmmm, its disgusting to see a girl act like that.
I blame the parents and schools for not teaching them respect. (Although many of you on here would prefer to blame society and their friends)...
Didn't you say something to them? I'd have been frothing at the mouth if they'd behaved like that infront of my own 2n half yr old, who's a parrot at the moment and copies everything said and done.

That being said- she has developed the habit of saying "oh niiiiiice" whenever she farts, and I cant help but roar laughing, which probably won't help matters when she herself is sat in Maccy D's in about 15 years time!

Seriously just like that link I posted, I'm just glad thyere is a smoking ban in England otherwise Melton Mowbray would have vanished in one great big blue flame
MB5, it's not much nicer to see lads behave like that either really.
No blame, a combination of any number of factors, from environment to upbringing to education...

He was gobsmacked BOO, he has never hear <ahem> ladies, (using the term very tongue in cheeck) do that before, I treateed it as a joke as I don't want a confrontation with a group of laddetts in front of the wee fella, the lady who cleans the tables had a word with them and got a load of verbal, the staff (who are only a couple of years older than the girls couldn't see why customers were complaining so didn't take any action.
I think its horible whether it was girls or boys.

My son has just turned 2 and for ages now whenever he breaks wind he has said 'rip-raps, pardon me'. He even says it when his dad trumps in front of him and forgets to say it.

happy birthday to little-lambert. I hope hes having a great day
That's gross! I can safely say me and my mates definately don't have fart competitions! I don't have any mates who would feed their 4yr old Mcdonalds either.. but that's a personal preference! :o)
John - no - yes - no. I dont believe there is much difference between girls and boys in regard to public conduct these days. Have this weekend had a young oik burp v loudly in my ear as he passed me. McDonalds popularity a bit of a mystery to me (good for a wee stop) I'm sure you could find somewhere a lot nicer to take Lambert jnr.
I must admit, when we got together as a group of girl teenagers we could get a little loud but we would never be so vulgar as to have burping and farting competitions......not even in private!
It scares me to think whats is happening and to know my daughter will be a teenager in 6 1/2 years!

Happy birthday little johnlambert xxx

McDonalds is NOT the type of place we would normally frequent, however, as it's his birthday I said as a special treat we would go, however, never again shall the johnlambert family shadow darken the doors of Maccy Dee's
That's not so bad then! I can't stand the stuff and I definately wouldn't feed it to my kids... once they are old enough to choose themselves though is a different matter!
farting is not ''emulating males behaviour'' - it is just that women have been expected to behave like dainty little flowers for years and finally we have realised that that is not natural for a human being - women have the same intestines, bowels etc as men - we are not dainty little flowers!!

these girls behaviour was horrible for a boy or a girl, but they were just allowing their true nature to come out and refusing to be governed by a 1950s ideal of women as delicate little dolls.

there was even 19 year old on big brother who was horrified that girls do poos the same as men, seemed to think they do fragrant little rabbit droppings!
what are we teaching men about women and equality if thats the impression he has...?

I saw that episode of BB, and I'm sure that young man is not representative of the education standards of today's youth.
I had a female American soldier who had been wounded in Bosnia vomit urinate, + poo on my as I was carrying her to the ambulance, so I am aware that we all have the same digestive systems, however, when I was a lad about town many years ago, I would not dream of farting out loud in public
