I'm asking because I got hit on the foot last night by a dart, it punctured the little toe on my left foot, made it bleed at the time. This morning my toe is bruised and it really hurts to walk. My shoe is pressing on it making me limp, but I'm going to feel such an idiot when someone asks me why Im limping.

I swear it was literally a case of knocking over the lamp and then picking it back up again but the burn (and the subsequent scar) left on my handmeans that it must have been lying on my hand for a while burning into my skin! I must have the slowest reflexes in the whole wide world! This was when I was a teen and my dad was convinced I'd done it to self harm (very progressive thinking of him as it wasn't as common or as realised as it is now!) and I then had to spend the next 3 months being closely monitored by my parents incase I was suicidal, which I certainly was not!!
I once woke up outside in my pants at 5am with amnesia, a punctured diaphragm, a snapped elbow, concussion and probably mild hypothermia. Turns out that I had woken my flat mate up earlier on to let me in and then when I locked myself out again I decided to climb onto a veranda behind my flat in order to climb in my bedroom window so that I wouldn't wake him up except when I woke up all I could remember was setting off from a mate's, heading towards a pub and then next thing I knew I was in bed coughing up blood and I couldn't move my arm, wondering why my window was open, why my boxers had mud on the arse and what I had done to myself! Thought I'd been robbed then hit by a bus or something!
About 6 years ago, I was still living with my parents at the time. It was a Sunday afternoon and my work uniform was out on the washing line. It started raining so I jumped up to go and get it in. I literally fell out of the back door (I was not drunk at the time!) My left foot 'bent' underneath me at a really odd angle with me in a heap on top of it. I ended up in A&E and even though it wasn't broken, I had done so much damage to the ligaments and tendons that I was on crutches for 3 months. It still doesn't feel right even now!
another accident i had in my very accident prone youth was when we were going to my mates house. we cut through the college grounds where they had a miniature railway, the sort you had rides on at fayre.as i jumped over it to get to the other side i came down with my shin on the track. it cut a 'c' shaped gouge in my shin going through to the bone.
Myself and a junior doctor were intubating a baby and as I had got the tube in place I asked the doc to pass me a scalpel blade to cut the tube to the correct length.
Well as he passed it to me it slid sharply across my finger , blood everywhere !!! Since I had no time to compromise the baby I had to be helped into several extra pairs of rubber gloves . What a fiasco .:-)
