i feel this is one for the doctor!
sounds like ecsema but really only her GP or health visitor can advise.

Take her to see them asap as babys skin is very delicate
Can we change this site to " Go to Doc".
If I said bathe the child in paraffin, would you. Get the poor child to the bl00dy doctors.

I give up on here.
tazz, It could be baby excema. Your sister should take the baby to the doctors. They know what to prescribe.
Question Author
they have seen the doc n everything they have tried dont work. i dont know if its something my sis n her parners not doing right. e.g changing cot reg, bathing, sunlight ect. do u think it could b being made worse by this?
Snap redcrx!
The baby might just have dry skin tazz. Buy a tube of Aqueous Cream from the chemist.
I doubt very much it is anything they are doing wrong, they must go back to GP and demand a dermatology referral if the GP has run out of treatment options. The poor mite must be very uncomfortable.
Question Author
she done that feena, i think its the way they r with her, does any1 know of any1 else like this? or there babies like this?
Well something isnt right, they should keep taking the poor thing back to the doctors til a correct diagnosis has been made and the required treatment given.

How old is the baby?

As for your suggestions I would think a warm bath every night with no soaps would help, pat the baby dry after....not rub dry. How often do they change the cot I you feel maybe theyre not doing it often enough? Of course, all this could be down to the washing powder they use.....have they tried changing it? Babies should be kept out of sunlight as much as possible anyway. Like redcrx, babies skin is very delicate, therefore it will burn very easily.

the babies 7months n have always been like this, they change cot every few weeks which is bad cos its dirty. they dont open there curtains in there room all day n dont get baby or themselves up till midday. she gets little fresh air or day light. my sis dont listen to anything any1 tells her, but i feel its not fair n the baby.
Does your sister, partner, or other family members have a rash at all? It could be scabies - no need to be horrified, it's perfectly treatable. They should ask to see a skin specialist asap.
Question Author
what do scabies look like? only eczema in family but it dont seem to b that
Sounds like excema. Look into Dead Sea salts - safe and effective. However, because it is a salt it will sting a bit on open skin. Used to sell Dead Sea products and always recommended them before or instead of steroid creams which I suspect have or will be prescribed.

scabies tends to run on the feet tummy and hands in the babies I have seen. You should be able to see track marks anbd the parents would most likely get it too.

Ignore Doc and his usual helpful advice. Some people here are useless unless the question is about what pants would you most like to see on Geri Haliwell.

If you have concerns about the little girls care, take it up with them and then if still nothing, go to their doctor yourself. It could be infected Eczema. Tell them to ask for a referral to a dermatologist as she is so young she should get one quickly. Call the health visitor. I know your just the aunty but you obviously care, so take responsibility.
there's a pic of a baby with scabies here

It can look different in a baby than it does in an adult & that's why gp's don't always spot it. It might need a small scraping of skin for a diagnosis but a good skin specialist should recognise it straight away.
Hang on, if this was serious would it still be here after an hour and a half. For christs sake call out the doctor, and I would suggest social services.

Post again when you have called doctor and social services.
Sorry goods but c'mon for goodness sakes.
Its not her baby. Her parents have been to the doctors.

Sometimes doctors are crap. I was pregnant and bleeding, not heavily but my doctor told me if I was going to have a miscarriage I would, just put my feet up and rest. After a couple of days of bleeding I asked on here, if anyone had a miscarriage was it like this. I got the usual line of go to the doctors, which I had already done and he was rubbish when I asked again. In the end, I phoned my mum who has a colleague that worked at the EPAC clinic to get me a scan. I had to self refer through gynae ward.

People blindly believe the doctor is all that is available to them. In cases like this seeing the doctor, and phoning the health visitor regularly would get better results.

thanx goods and rob it does look like that pic but not as bad, used to b thou. i will talk to them goods thank u all 4 ur help much appriciated.xx
as 4 ur advice docs the doctors r crap n they been there several times. i wouldn`t ask the question otherwise
Sorry but I will be blunt and to the point on this.......you need to stop pussyfooting around and contact social services for the sake of that poor little baby!

You admit they only change her cot sheets every few weeks , she gets little fresh air or sunshine..........as much as they may love their little one........they are neglecting her through not looking after her properly.

Sorry to come across as being so harsh but when a childs health and well being are being comprimised.....Im not going to sit here and say dont worry its all good!

Speak to your sister, explain this is all unecessary, go with her to take the baby to the doctors and keep going til they find out what it is and it gets treated properly. Also speak to her about the environment the baby is being brought up in. Explain to her this is doing the baby, and themselves, more harm than good and that she needs to change her ways and make some serious improvements.

Ever heard the saying it is cruel to be kind? Well now is the time to be cruel and threaten your sister with social services in the hope it gives her a boot up the backside and makes these changes!

Good luck!
